So if any one wants to take me under their wing I am all for it but it wont be on a Wednesday night.
forgive me for stating the obvious, but i would suggest the best way to get experience is to...um...ride?say,on a wednesday?BK carpark?

Yes I agree, but not at the moment. I have been along to the WNR but as a pillion. When I feel more confident and stop feeling like I will be a hinderence to other riders, then I will bring my bike.

You have to get out to the ride and join in and ride at your own pace and dont worry about the others. Watch and learn. Practice and enjoy riding your bike.

    Ditto...Thats what it's all about.
I rode everywhere on me own until I got with this KB crowd around 3 or so years ago... then all went downhill. And now I enjoy either, group or solo, it's a good place to get a grip and develop ya self, with or without feedback. Just by using your eyes and watching others.

Kerry thats the point... there are people who are happy to ride at YOUR pace, so you are never a hinderence to others! I use to think that Brent, Wayne and Carl were driven nuts but how slow I was and if they were they never said. All as they did was ENCOURAGE! Now I dont even think twice if one of them is behind me cos I know that they can pass me if they want, otherwise I just assume they are enjoying riding at my slow pace.

If you want to pluck up the courage to come then let me know. I for one will be more than happy to ride with you at your pace!

It's not as bad as it sounds, just turn up on wed nite and have a chat to some people, you should have no trouble finding someone to ride with.

Just hang back and tag on the back of the group as they leave if you're worried about holding someone up, if you know where you're going you can ride your own ride and get there when you get there. Me and no doubt a few others would be quite happy to keep you company at the back of the bunch, hell I've been on a few rides where I was the back of the bunch
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

Kerry, you should come along. I was put off last year by foolishly watching the thread. The ride is vastly different to bullshit.

No her first ride was to the Magpie, after putting about 20K's on the bike.

I can understand her dilemma, she knows most of the riders, she knows a lot of the forum talk is just that talk, but she does not want to get caught up in politics and testosterone induce head butting contests over who has the biggest bike(or dick), who has the most K's under their belt etc etc.

For the unformed Kerry is well versed in the dynamic, an unfortunate side effect of being married to me, she saw the bullshit that went down over the last couple of years.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.
