Now I dont even think twice if one of them is behind me cos I know that they can pass me if they want, otherwise I just assume they are enjoying riding at my slow pace.

If you want to pluck up the courage to come then let me know. I for one will be more than happy to ride with you at your pace!

Seriously. Make sure you do come. Do one ride, and make your mind up after that. You will find that things are a lot different to how its made out on here and I guarantee that you will not hold anyone up. Anyone that wants to pass you will do so at a safe and appropriate time and not scare the bejesus out of you.

Whats the worst that will happen if you do come? OH NOES there is one more rider on the ride. Someone think of the children.

Have fun tonight folks... enjoy your ride!! Happy new year to all once again..
Yep - done the drowned rat impression too much this year, went shopping for some new watertight pants today.... seriously, have a look at some of the PVC over-jackets in at the Red Sheds. The cheapie stuff appears to be the same as the DriRider & INOX stuff, but about 1/3rd the price - and at that rate, I can always replace at the first sign of a leak (which will likely be because of me catching a seam on a boot donning whatever roadside, which would be happpening no matter the name - or price - on the label!)

Anyway, won't be out tonight - someone else will have to get lost for me! - but down to Twizel on Fri so I guess the road whale will get enough twisties (& KMs) until I'm back on the 4th (BMW owners set-to) - have a good NY all & **safe** riding (assume the other idiot is a tourist / txting / drunk / having a domestic / is Nick Smith at all times!)

So Gareth what was it you said about MaxF's "Funky ass curves"? - God, now I'm worried...

Did you buy the yellow/green PVC cheap stuff from the RED Shed
ROFL, the pants will last about 2 hours, the PVC lining peals off leaving big holes. Sadly usually in the crutch and inner thigh area. They also split down the leg seam.
Many of my co workers have tried them at work in the vineyards last winter, utter crap!
The jackets are not too bad for being water tight, just the buttons/domes stop working after about the 5th time you use them. The pockets rip at the corners when you put things in them.
I would NOT recomend to anyone the yellow/green PVC "wet weather" gearfrom the red shed.
Sorry as this is a public forum, I cannot give you the brand name.

I'll pay top dollar for a pair of gloves that are guaranteed waterproof (not will stay dry on the inside for 10-20 minutes in west coast rain "waterproof").

Here you go sport this is what you want. I can save some for you if you like, and for top dollar I'll even shake the crumbs out for you

Twas a good end to the WNRs 2009.
A small but nice turn out.
Weather dried up and wind died down to make for a pleasant cruse over Dyres round the Bays to the Weaty for Big Sausage Roll and Chips... with red stuff.

Then back round the Bays to Lyttelton with about half of us finishing via the Summit and back down Dyers to our respective homes etc.

    Cheers all and good night.

Yea sorry. I would use them. Really I would. But Im still young enough to want to look cool while Im riding my bike and I have disposable income which I plan on enjoying while I can. So sadly while the practical side of me says I should do that, the "You'll look like a tool" side of me says "You'll look like a tool wearing bread bags".

PS. Stop trying to rip me off, those bags are unused and hence dont have crumbs to shake out.

Great ride tonight, wind died down beautifully and the rain stopped, so glad I went along!!

Thanks JNemonic and the FJ guy (sorry I never remember your name!!) for the advice, patience and understanding!! Feel more confident with the corners now, just have to work on the downhill stuff!!

Tupelo, your lines were looking good on the way home (although, me also being new what would I know ) Hope you got some useful advice from everyone!!
