Bike friendly accommodation - New Plymouth and Hamilton?

    Hi all,

I'm planning a bit of a ride up to a conference in Hamilton in a couple of weeks, and just wondering who in New Plymouth and Hamilton are considered to be 'bike friendly' in the way of hotels/motels etc. Preferably some out of the way parking etc.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Somewhere with comfy beds too, as I expect to be pretty knacked at the end of each day heh.

    Cheers,

    neil

Hey, I am sure someone on KB would put you up. And would be a nice way to meet other KBers. I would offer myself but am a little too far away

    Good luck

Kingsgate Hotel Hamilton. Huge car parking and they allow a bike or two to park inside reception. As long as your not conferencing there send me a pm and I can organise a super KB rate for you. Something like $79 including full brekkie.

    cheers

Life would be so much easier if you addressed questions with a simple answer.

True, although I'm not one to crash at peoples places generally.

Brougham Heights Motel in New Plymouth is great. Parking in front of unit which faces away from street. Bike is unseen unless someone actually walks right into the motel. Really comfy beds too and spa bath always great after a ride!!!!!! Have stayed there a few times on the bike and always welcome.
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead
Do not walk ahead as I may not follow.
Do not walk beside me as the path is narrow
In fact FU*K off and leave me alone

It is a good place for all those reasons and its central town, handy for resturants etc.

The Sun Flower lodge, 33 Timaranda St, 06 758 2842, in New Plymouth is the one that Boob Johnson used to own, stayed there a couple of nights, good private off street parking, though keep in mind it is under new management.
I've gone off Hotels and Motels and prefer Back packers, you get to meet interesting people, the room rate is better, just stop at a local back packers and pick up a copy of the BBH acccommodation guide, and it will give you options for the whole country.

I didn't realise he was out of there. I was looking forward to staying over with BJ sometime.
