Still, nothing will keep me off my bike for long
So all the good bits still okay then, crazyhorse?

Surprisingly my jacket did not aggravate the scar at all as I'd expected, but I did find the ride this afternoon out to Clevedon and home just a good length for my first ride. There was a bit of tenderness at the top of my shoulder initially, but no problem at the break site. It took the first 10 minutes or so to start to feel comfortable on the bike again, but by the return ride home I felt like I'd never been off it.

How soon have others been back (in the rider's seat) after having surgery? (Mine was collarbone btw).

p.s. will update my blog after seeing the specialist again on the 29th of Jan. Fingers crossed that the xrays will show good news!
I think I remember you from motott last year... Pink jacket and scorpio, right? Saw ya on thurs I think? Didn't look like you had been off the bike for too long

Ah, no that wouldn't have been me - I ride a dark blue 650 bandit and my jackets are either a red Suomy (which I still wear thanks to Kerry at MSW patching up after my accident) and a pretty baby blue M2R (which was the replacement one from my accident). Check my profile pic as the only mod the bandit has had done since is a higher Givi windshield.
I'm sure we'll meet up somewhere along the line though!

A popular ride in our area is the Maraetai/Whitford loop which includes Clevedon along the route. I'm in Manurewa which makes home to Clevedon and back about an easy 45 minute ride - just a nice length for my first pootle back in charge on 2 wheels.

    You betcha!!

Had a great ride this morning to Te Aroha with Balu, stopping for coffee at one of our favourite coffee places Espresso Banco. Shoulder a little tender, but quite managable - nothing like the shocker I had a few months ago riding home from Hamihole in agony!
Plenty of bikes out on the road, lots of waves, no stupidity from any riders - the only dickhead was a car driver who thought it would be fun to cut me off while carving up the traffic on the Bombays.

Look forward to catching up with you if you collect fishy(ies) for Mini Max.

At the risk of sounding like a fag, try some pilates. It's good for rehab. Google or youtube it up.

Good to hear it went well. Take it easy, don't want to push that plate too much until it's done it's job & the bone heals.
