Well I can think of better things to be doing at 2400 hrs on Wednesday night. Like snuggling up in bed with my wife (and mind your own business).

Just the standard ride for me boys and girls.

So .... is that three choices ... Kaikoura, the standard ride ... or a snuggle with Flip's wife ... ???

I'll be keen for a normal run on Wednesday night. Would a ride to diamond harbour and a stop at the pub out on the point be good? Its a good ride out there for learners and experienced a bit of everything for everyone.

I would like to do the Kaikoura run too but not fair on the learners. It makes it a bloody long ride at 70KPH. Part of the whole WNR experience is stopping at destonation X. Whether you get there faster or slower is up to the experience or the patience of the rider but we do all get to destonation X in the end. Having perhaps a Saturday or Sunday day riding group started up would be a good idea if there are a group of riders that want to ride the likes of Kaikoura or Hamner or the like would be great. Even another night of the week for more experienced riders who want to ride longer distances. Splitting the WNR group into 2 destonations will in my humble opinion only end up with learners at spot X and experienced at spot Y and detracts away from the idea of the WNR in the first place.

Last weeks was a minter, aride, good social time, and home at a decent time.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!

R1maddness has done this ride before and so have a few others and so have I.
It may have been put up in jest, but it is not the first time there has been a break away group.
After all there is the Duvachelle Gp crew.
And there other riders, like when the day light is shorter, a lot do not go all the way to the Duvachelle Pub.
Others will not do the Summit Road and there have been others.

Think of this as a one time ride, at night to Kaikoura, but the ride home it will get dark.
We will get there with day light.
And I would not call the Hundalee's boring to ride at night or hard.
Just all the roads are so different to ride in the dark.
It is like riding them for the first time again.

All tho not a ride for beginners because they must be home by 10 O'clock.
It could be a good ride for learners to learn or try to ride at night, while it is still warm and not as cold as it is in winter.

It is not every ones cup of tea.
And the weather would have to be nice.

I have talked to a few people and I know they will do the ride if they can get home from work in time.
So we have a possible four people.

Sorry this break away ride in on the normal WNR thread, but it may have started here as a joke or a piss take.
But now it is a happening thing as far as I'm concerned.
So if you think you and your bike are up for this. (think before putting your hand up)

Six O'clock start from Just Motorcycles.
We have to get an earlier start and R1 has to close his shop first, so I think this is the best idea.
And we do not have to ride right across town.
Which can be hard to keep a group together.
Full tank of gas. (there is a Shell garage across the road)
181 km and about a 2 1/2 hour ride one way.
We could pick up another group out of town. (just thinking out loud)
Feel the fear and do it anyway

    Don't confuse education with intelligence.
There are alot of highly educated idiots out there.

    Pizza at Sonic

If I'm travelling with company. What the hell, we went to Ashburton at 9pm a couple of fridays ago to say hi to a mate, what's a ride to kaikoura.

If I'm flying solo I might bring the scooter (if it's legal by then), and keep the learners company at 70kph.

Anyway, if it's to kaikoura it'll be on the XJ, the scooter doesn't bear thinking about.

I was thinking I could take it into town for a shorter ride at learner pace

Well this gets my vote this week. The bug I had has laid me pretty low so are only able to do a short run.
