Save yourself the stress mate and ditch the sprocket guard( no bloody use) and the stupid retaining plate( slow and fiddly) and just fit 2 x 21mm circlips to the groove in the output shaft. Don't worry, the sprocket does not 'walk'.
Easy to carry a cheap circlip plier with ur tools and just a quick tweak of the chain, change sprockets and tighten the chain again, 3 minutes tops, even in 35` sunlite on the side of the trail!
Trust me(?), mine did 40K km in this form without ANY problem.

Take your point mate but all back in place at the moment without any problems other than a wobble in the front wheel after fitting knobblies.
I've just been for a ride up and down some steepish tracks in the forest here. The bike handled really well at relatively slow speed and brilliant going down hill. Have also fitted a bashplate from the states $75usd against Suzuki dealer $230!!
So what knobs you trying?

ok, haven't tryed them myself.
The D606 front is my favourate front knobbly.
Currently I have the mitas c02 on rear and for the first 300km or so the c02 gave a wobble which felt like the front end. Once run in it was fine.
