I read the first few sentences on the internet then decided I would be better off not continuing. Particularly distressing to me is that the statement that the dogs would have been terrified as this was happening. It's one thing to shoot an animal (where there is a need), but there is no excuse for inhumane. I was going to comment on mass slaughtering being highly objectionable, but then I guess there are times when even that could be considered humane if the animals are suffering already. Not to mention our meat market would be almost non-existent....
But back on topic, all this does is confirms that there are people out there for whom the words compassion has no meaning. Regardless of how justified this person felt in punishing the dogs or their owner there had to be a better way.

Bitching on KB isn't going to change anything. The Government set up the Advertising Standards Authority for a reason.

Yes there will be more to this story than has come to light. I do not agree with the herald publishing the photo, also the photo of 2 burnt bodies in Haiti, but that is within the censorship laws obviously. This guy has no legitimate reason for having so many un registered dogs on his property and the neighbour has taken exception to the whole deal and lost his rag. They are obviously both the types of people that have to learn things the hard way. Nobody wins except the general public who will no longer have to sort out this eventual dog problem as it would have been a problem sooner or later. IMO

Interesting thread really,my old dog Macs the best mate one could wish for so the news of this dog shooting pissed me off some then in reading this thread someone mentioned Haiti, yea its terrible but if i am honest ive barely given it a thought bugger me there thousands or so die from starvation the world over and theres not many that give a shite.Have we all become hardened to it?i dunno.Whilst having a swim this afternoon and watching my old dog set off to retrieve yet another stick from the water i did remind myself how lucky we all are to live in such a place,Well all of us South of Cook Strait anyway.:rolleyes

the tongan community is in an uproar! so much dog gone to waste!

2 sides to every story. How would you feel about living next to 33 dogs! wtf! These dogs obviously were not under control - they killed the neighbors dogs. He could of complained to the dog control, but like that would achieve much.

I'd hazard a guess that this wasn't the result of a 1 off event. - killing of livestock, attacks on children, lawn coverd in dog shit, barking all the time, desise, fleas etc etc

The dogs would of died quickly and in the photo you can see there are no massive gaping wounds. and the report did not state that they had found any alive.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

WTF just caught the details of it all on the news, fuck em lock the pricks up and throw away the key.Wasnt even done humanely. My earlier understanding was that the dogs were neglected and as someone else earlier pointed out they may well be better off out of it.Doesnt seem that was the case at all.

Looked like there was plenty of paddocks between houses on the news article,Not under control?SPCA says there were and also well cared for,fit and healthy. No eveidence as yet that the killed dogs had anything to do with killing the neighbours dog.As for dying quickly fuck me one that had been wounded had a go at the rifle. Its bullshit, what next a cow that moos to much annoys a neighbour so its sweet to go shoot a paddock full of em?

That's a lot of assumptions there young RM. Will be interesting to hear the "both sides of the argument" shortly on Close Up.

Neither will you digesting it on the internet and getting angry about it. All you will achieve is wreck your own self-esteem and take it out on some person you have never met.

There are lots of people who are stuck in the routine of searching for material to get angry about, and all we get is angry individuals doing nothing, because they are incapable because they are too angry.

Either go do something about it, or let it go, or don't read it at all.

I think it was bad form of the herald to publish that particular pic. Shock journalism at it's worst. The herald used to be a good newspaper, lately I wouldn't even want my fish & chips wrapped in it.
