Obviously, public roads are out of the questionAre there any designated "wheelie" practice locations around?

I doubt it very much....wheelies are frowned upon by the local authorities....find a lonely place and practice, practice, practice until you master the technique. I'm sure others on here can give you the lowdown on the how.
Every set of traffic lights that turn red just as you get to them.![]()
Thanks Genie..... yeah, I'm pretty sure I can get it up on my own.....ummm (so to speak) I've been practicing, very subtlely around the place. I just don't want to be a hoon. Would prefer to find a nice place where its totally legal..... like an abandoned airport runway (unlikely I know) or something similar. Around Auckland, prefereably North Shore.
Empty Carpark.
Note: An EMPTY carpark.
If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.
What bike are you doing them on? My suggestion would be to look around Albany Industrial area and if you see a good place (off the road) then find out how to contact the people who own the land/building and ask them.
I haven't bothered with finding a private place. I have a few on-ramp/quiet motorway stretches that I occasionally use when the time is right but it's a bit touch and go. Already had one close call.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
Yea yea dont kid yourself fella, you will hook one up get a rush then before you know it you will be flat on your back about to discover the inhumanity of the Suzuki parts salesman. If thats not enough of a lesson then like me at 46 years old will discover the lack of humor of our local law enforcement officers when confronted with someone popping a wheelie the length of the Waitaki bridge and the embarrassing walk home.
