The Toronto goth scene, the cultural locus of the goth subculture in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the associated music and fashion scene, has distinct origins from goth scenes of other goth subcultural centres, such as the UK or Germany. Originally known as the "freaks", the term "goth" appeared only after 1988, when it was applied to the pre-existent subculture. I think Kiwi culture has turned....with the embracing of pacifica, different sub cultures have emerged to replace the old ones like 'Gothic'. But penetrating beyond the look and goth hairstyle, I found them to be kind and thoughtful people, raging out when the apple pie bullshit was really doing their head in. K Road has the 'Misery' scene, and tattooed kids on BMX bikes, seems to be a replacement of sorts

What ever happened to 'greasers'? They are sort of like The Ramones I think, or rockers probably

One girl downstairs from me would be a modern goth, though she would not use that label, I'd say.

You can tell an emo by the way they walk,Goth's seem to walk pretty normal.Perhaps if the Goths perfected a special walk they may get a bit more acceptence?

Well, it's not a matter of acceptance. They just seem to have disappeared. I just don't see goths around any more.

I was in a goth band in the 80s. we had smoke machines, lots of gigs and an album and everything! a bit cringeworthy now, but at the time, i loved it!
