So I see yet another member of the sub-species has fatally stabbed a taxi driver, who leaves behind him two young kids a wife and a mother... And I read in the local newsrag about another member of that same sub-species attacking a local guy with a hammer in a "road-rage" incident.

What the hell is with these guys? At the risk of sounding like my old man used to, I am beginning to favour full on revenge...let's face it, if these guys were in your farm herd, you'd cull them out, yes?

Why assume P was involved? Not everyone is a P-head, and frankly, some of the porch monkeys from south auckland would shank someone if they got looked at the wrong way. I see this was in Mt Eden though - the description tends to a middle-eastern/medeterrainian look, I'd be well nervous of the backgrounds of some of those guys

In the case of the taxi driver's family, if they catch the bastard, put him to hard labour, pay him the going rate but give all that wage to the family. Keep him at it for the rest of his natural. It's unfortunate that something like this has to be done, but I think that late night taxi drivers should have stab proof vests, security cameras in their cars, and should be separated from the passenger by a window/fence thing between the front and back seats of the car. With a small door that can be opened from the drivers side for the exchange of cash.

Like in Oz ya mean. There were a string of cases over there a few years ago, cabs rigged with perspex sheeting between driver and passengers, cameras and most likely a baseball bat stuffed under the seat. Tis fuckin rediculous that in this day and age, you can't earn an honest living without being fucked over because you had the nerve to ask someone for MONEY for the service provided! Now if it was free the incident would have likely not happened!

I do like your thinking. You could even grind them up and use them for fertiliser. Cheaper than a burial. That would be in keeping with the green theme.

The radio report was saying $2,000 to install special cameras. I don't see why the drivers don't already have a much cheaper way to send a pic of a late-night customer to home base. Geez, just use a camera-phone.

Maybe even a cheap still camera, with the memory rigged up somewhere so a drop-kick can't easily steal or destroy the evidence.

Would the privacy advocates object?


My Sister-in-laws husband is a Taxi driver. He's looking at going back to being an accountant.

On the face of it a very sensible suggestion, but for a few questions: who pays the going rate (surely not the state), and has to deal with managing the prick, and what do you do with the honest labourers whose market you disrupt? It's not like we're drowning in jobs. And why would hard labour + incarceration be any cheaper for the taxpayer than just plain locking the baastid up for a very long time?

I won't, but when you are bought up in a culture of cutting people's hands, genitals and heads off, a lazy stabbing for a cab fare may not faze you quite as much.
