For what it's worth.... without blowing sunshine up Jim's arse... James Deuce would be the most courteous and professional motorcyclist I have ever had the pleasure to ride with.
Karma got something VERY wrong on this occasion.
Kia kaha, Jim!!![]()
Goddamned land maggots.
Glad you're OK man, check your PMs.
I'm glad to hear you are mending Jim and understand your position, however now is not the time to throw away your journalistic skills...think on it first.
Get into racing or off road Jim, it's far safer!
Iain
Hi JD,
So sorry to hear about your accident! I heard about it from AJ, and was just stunned that you emerged with such relatively minor injuries...I say 'relatively minor' cos as he was relating the story to me I was expecting an entirely different outcome. PHEW! Breathed a huge sigh of relief that you are alive.
Damn shame about the bikeThe 2 CRs riding together would have been fun...
The whole wandering stock business scares me and reminds me of a time I was riding to Wanganui from National park...came around a corner to see a bloody great big bull standing on the side of the road. We eyeballed each other but fortunately for me he just stayed where he was...
As motorcyclist most of us love to get off the main highways and ride the 'back roads' so stock hazards are something that could happen to any of us. With that in mind I can fully understand your comment regarding losing your wifes trust and why you are now going to concentrate on non-road riding... good luck with whatever you decide to do in the future!
I am wishing you a speedy recovery and sending positive vibes your wayAnd also wanna send some love to your family because this must be so incredibly awful for them... Bless.
...it is better to live 1 day as a Tiger than 1000 years as a sheep...
Jim, I've been thinking about your post (great to see you post too matey) 6 weeks before Leon was killed, we had a car randomly u-turn in front of us, and it would've been a major, except for defensive riding skills.
My point is; of course I wish I had put my foot down (kinda did, but really wasn't stroppy enough, oh the irony!!) And well.. you know the rest.
I understand your wife's feeling on this, and all I can say is 'if only..' there's alot of maybe's attached to our scenario, but if I'd been firm - maybe I'd still be a living my safe, old life.
Anyway, sorry to ramble!
Good luck in building a trackbike Jim, and please relax and heal before thinking about throwing your writing away, talent like yours is really too good to waste. Cheers
EDIT: well done to Kari too.![]()

Wow. That sux ass. Hope your back on your feet and 2 wheels real soon Jim.
FINE. This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
You ride with two little kids! .........where do they fit - do you strap them on?Cant say the wife is keen on my riding with two little kids too.
My wife worries about me riding, particularly in the evening, as well.....and I worry about about her riding, sometimes (she crashed last). Guess it's just a natural reaction, but it shouldn't stop your life.....

Hey JD, my thoughts are with you man. Heal fast and climb back on that horse fella.

Shit!
Let's taxidermy the sheep. I'm using these as inspiration:

Ah yer great lumpkin.... I go away for a few weeks and look what happens... Not only that - Ya had to kill the Buell before I got a ride on it... sigh!!! Honestly...
Don't stress old chap and forget the MX5... Heal up and come out for a paddle with me one day and I'll show you some fun without wheels thats family friendly to boot. Vicki and I have had 2 weeks and 3,000km driving, paddling, fishing aboot the south island and we had a ball...
Dr Pauls Perscription, get an numpty old classic bike (they cut sheep in half not the other way about) for a pittance... A couple of kayaks (3 seater sit on tops are on the market) or a dinged up old alloy dinghy, some surf casters and assorted rods plus camping kit.... A Kayak at sea is 99.999% sure of NOT hitting a sheep..
I'll give ya bell later and check on you and yours but sadly off again on monday for another stint in the salt mines so can't drop in for a visit (yes, I can tell you is sad about me not teasing you in person)... Chin up... Sing out if ya need anything
