Sorry for being so stupid, what is wrong with the plate?

Are the figures larger or smaller than they should be?

    Are they not embossed?

Surely if it passed a WOF, then it is road legal to register?

I'd quite like to keep it as is if possible, so just wondering if anyone else has one similar & whether they've had any hassles with it?
Yes it is an offence to display a plate that is remanufactured or modified in any way. The plate that was originally supplied is that which must be displayed and there are no exemptions.

They only give u a ticket for unauthorised number plate ($200 i think) and take it off the bike... (I only got a written warning on my speeding ticket..) And sent me on my merry way. I got one made at a sign place, slightly smaller and letters in red still with reflector backing. Cost me $15. Not been hammered for this one yet, will keep you posted

It is still illegal! Even if it is the same size, font, etc. as it does not reflect like the authorised plates do.
A new plate costs about $8

Whats wrong with using the plate that you're legally supposed to use? Shit like this just attracts the filth.

I've noticed that it's the only bit that gets dirty. It's really quite bizarre...
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My signature is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my signature is useless. Without my signature, I am useless.

You did such a good job blanking it out that you fooled a lot of them Anyway, I drove around for about 6 years with Californian plates (Personalised here) on my car, got pulled over once and told that if it was any other cop I'd not have been let off, but he liked the car so it was just a warning.

Well i've replaced it with a standard plate. Next issue is that i'll need to get an integrated tail light as the new plate partially blocks the indicators!

Ok I have chopped the edges off my plate to make it a bit smaller and then wrapped them in plastic trim. Surely it is still legal???

    Nope. Illegal to modify.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!
