Is the not using your mobile phone without a handsfree kit working?

The amount of people i see with a phone in there hand txting talking etc i guess the police arent making enough money out of it so they think why bother, as some prat tail ends them cause they where too busy txting lol

News item teh other week mentioned that more people were ignoring the law, and in my experience travelling the motorway every day, it seems true. I still often, come upon a driver weaving along, slowing down and generally exhibiting all the usual signs, and sure enough, as I pass them they are texting...

Problem for Police, is catching them at it and unless they are dobbed in, it's not easy to do.

the law has made it more dangerous again tho, as people now try to hide the phone when txting & thus end up looking at the floor instead of the road. But the hands-free kits are no safer & if anything more dangerous when it comes to voice communication all studies show this & if you've ever watched the average person using one you can see why. The latest from the U.S. (which has had this cell rule for a couple years now) is pre & post cell rules accident rates have not changed, the "hansfree" rule has done absolutely nothing to bring the accident rate down.
I reckon just like the inforcment of the speed rule, its just here to make the Govt more money.

Yep, they don't make em. And they also break em. Passed a marked patrol car not long ago with the driver (in uniform) talking on his cellphone.

Possibly he was speaking into a dictaphone to remind himself to change motorcycling websites after spending an hour in a layby on the internet reading "cry me a river" threads about cops on KB.

pretty sure the 5-0 are excempt - like loss of traction, speeding, not stopping for red lights and carrying a firearm without a licence.....

i know the police have a hard job, aint enough money in the world for me to do it. But it does appear as if only certain laws are being enforced, and others ignored. We can all give tales of police in unmarked cars speeding with out there lights on and cops doing silly things. Its juts seems to me that the moblie phone law has been ignored, and people are thinking of more stupid ways of getting round it. It does need to be enforced more
