Good things take time.
They called it paradise, I don't know why.
Call someplace paradise, kiss it goodbye.
What's the road like thru there; thinking about going thru there or Molesworth station late next week on my bandit 1200 - I'm proficient at riding on gravel, but I don't know if its a suitable track/road for a big road bike, or if 230k limit for petrol is ok?
Apparently it's only open to the public from 1 December to the first week in March? is that a problem?
Lifes Just one big ride - buckle up or hang on
From memory its 210km from hanmer to blenhiem (used 9.2L of my 9.5L tank) through molesworth station (different to rainbow), maybe less if you take taylors pass. Open 28 Dec to 1 April, but you can always give doc a ring to check +64 3 572 9100. Not sure about bandit suitability, somebody else might be able to comment. My DR250 was fine. A couple of small fords that would have steepish entries for a bandit.
cmon ST Jim!.Dont tell me it was too dark at 5.25am to get the pic!
Found it on the ferry Picture of then inside on the car deck Had a huge problem trying to get a shot of the ferry at abnout 5.30 am this morning. Would have be perfect if it was daylight. The best pick is on inside taken after the bikes were untied You will have to take my word for that it was the Arhura. it was also the Arhura that i tried to photograph this morning. Was followed by JATZ who picked up the tag where I dropped it
4 Wheels move the body. 2 Wheels move the soul
The Rainbow is quite smooth at the moment. No issues at all on a road bike.
110km from the servo at St Arnaud to the servo at Hanmer (open 7:30am).
100km from St Arnaud to Nelson.
340 odd km from Nelson to Hanmer via Taylors Pass and the Molesworth.
I'm baaaack, almost tempted to go back out and do another 104 k's to make it an even 1000 for the dayShithouse ride over the Whangamoas this morning in the dark and rain, and some turkey deciding to turn right into a driveway as I was overtaking, in a 100k zone, I swear if I'd had more tread on my rear tyre I wouldn't be here.
Don't worry I didn't go through the rainbow. so the new tag isn't on gravel. Smokey you should be o.k. in the Molesworth if you don't mind gravel, just take it easy if it's been graded. all the river crossings are bridged from memory, except the small ford, middle of isolated flat. Rainbow has a couple of lumpy bits just before Hells gate, I can only think of 2 fords that may give issues, ones a small one just north of the waiau/wairau river andthe other is on the St Arnaud side of the toll gate, neither are deep. I may be going through them both next w/end.
BAck on topic........ c'mon STJim
Damn I's a slow typerer
Okies, here ya go
First 2 are STJims tag
Next is the new tag
