About a month ago I was passing through Auckland on my way to Northland, during my holiday. Knowing the chance of meeting cops on the motorway was high, I kept it below 100kph.

On the toll road north of Auckland, where the two lanes merge into one to go through the tunnel, I tried overtaking a car in front of me before the merge. The cop was at the bottom of the hill but I didn't see him. He saw me riding for 5 minutes at least, under 100kph and speed up for 2-3 secs, then (when I noticed him) brake and drop back to 95kph. He pulled me over and ticketed me for 127kph (I'm not even sure I went that fast).

This weekend I went to Auckland to pick up a new bike - xr650. After looking at it, I decided to do a short test-ride. Being in the suburbs, I didn't think twice - just jumped on it thinking I will ride it to the corner and back. By the time I was back (1 minute ride) I had a cop on my back. The bike's rego wasn't valid anymore and it had no wof either.

After explaining to him all this, and the fact that I've just driven all the way from Wellington, I was tired and I just forgot to grab my helmet, he still fined me for no helmet. I know technically he could have fined me for no rego, no wof, etc, etc, but it was obvious I wasn't going anywhere and I wasn't a danger to anybody - just a ride to the corner and back.

Am I just really unlucky, or all the cops in Aucks are arseholes. And being pulled over in less than a minute somewhere in suburbs really freaked me out - it felt like they had been watching me all the way, waiting for me to do something illegal. All the way back (650kms) I've been watching my car's rearview mirrors expecting cops to pop up around every corner and from under any bush, pull me over and find something to fine me for.
Neither. Your the dickhead doing fucktard stupid antics, that wound you in trouble. You then take it one step further and come online to bleat on about it. Its because of idiots like yourself that the rego prices are going up and other retards ride their bikes at speed into wire barriers. Then everyone here call out foul and then try to blame it on someone else.

Your another reason why motorcycling these days, has become a big joke.

I'm assuming none of you has ever ridden over 100kph or without a helmet in his/her life. in your eyes there's no room for error. i'll remember your "kind thoughts" next time you come in here and winge about something.
Hehe, yeah well call it unlucky if you like, and maybe it is. Sure we've all done the speeding thing.

You're a dick for not wearing a helmet though. I got a mate whose best mate is now a cabbage coz of no helmet. Wear your helmet. Think of your family.

What the fuck does rego have to do with me riding without a helmet? Going to the corner and back I made 30kph or 40 at most. You can reach much faster speeds on push-bikes these days. When I do ride I always have proper gear on. This is why I got so pissed off - this was the first time EVER I've been on a bike without helmet.

You're talking out of your ass, especially considering that your signature is not quite on the same page with your post.

I see that I've started some kind of shit storm. Somehow, everybody loves the cops and got really infuriated by the fact that i've called the Auckland cops assholes. it's probably my mistake. I thought I was on a biker forum but I am clearly on some sort of PRO POLICE FORUM: whatever you do, do not diss Mr. Plod.

Considering that quite a few that have replied on this thread have bragged about their own antics (much more serious than riding helmetless to the corner and back) or complained about unfaireness of the police many times, I think this is very hypocritical. But that's ok. If you don't get any other satisfaction in life than talking bollocks here, be my guests: keep sucking your own dicks until they fall off, I don't mind.

You see how hypocritical it is for you to talk about how the expenses of motorcycling have gone up, right? Not so long ago someone else here was accusing you of being a bad rider, resulting in another bad statistic and what I'm sure were quite a few riders fees being spent on you.

You need to hook up with SPB, hes on the same blood trail (at least once a month) as you are.
If you feel so strongly that you were wrongly ticketed, write in and complain, dont waste your time on here doing it.
Cops are the same NZ wide mate, they enforce the law, thats thier job!
They dont care that you ''Normally'' wear all you gear, on this occassion, you were not.
Give yourself a slap and get on with it.
Im not crazy about cops either, but if I get ticketed for whatever reason, I will just pay the fine knowing I probably deserved it.

He may have been in the wrong, even Police make occasional mistakes, that's the bad thing about being human. However you were in total control. Perhaps waiting it out and appreciating a mistake had been made and been a little more patient.

    I get very miffed at individuals that toot from 'behind'... Either back off or chill out IMO. The tooter normally makes irrational mistakes which have far worse consequences. ;

Don't really see where you are coming from either, but hey, lets throw in a hitler line while we're at taking things out of context and ignoring the fact that only one of the instances you guys feel you can pick apart, which only involves his own safety. Oh, he's more of a danger to you and yours somehow with no helmet?

No, only himself, hence the nanny state law. But it is the law, and no point complainin', it wont stop the rain.

If it was the same cop that got you both times then you would have a point but it wasn't.

Its just a numbers game. More people = more cops = more highway patrol. But in Aucks and Wellywood there are approx. the same number of main roads to patrol eg 2 but more cops here to do it.

If you live here for a while you just get used to seeing cops all the time.

Is that unlawful shit like riding without a helmet and speeding ?

Hardly. For all us non-Aucklanders know maybe they are all arseholes. Fact is you rode without a helmet, even though you claim to be an ATGATT, and got done for speeding. Jeez. Lets blame someone else shall we ?
