Since when is psychology tried and tested?

When frontal lobotomies and electro shock became the rage?

I just dont understand how another drug or the drug your addicted to but through a patch or pill is the answer. I just dont get it.

Herbal support with natural relaxants(verbena, chamomile, kava, etc etc) is such a easy and pleasant way to give up

12 step programs with the powerlessness trip, cause me to worry

Ok I will bite. Within the sphere of psychological theory for anyone making 'claims' to be taken seriously it is a usual prerequisite that they publish their research in a peer reviewed reputable journal. The peer review system ensures that the correct procedures and ethical considerations have been undertaken and that the research is reliable and valid. And there is still something to be said for frontal lobotomies and electric shock for the right situation and right person.

I am unaware of any research that has tested the Allen Carr method of quitting, although from what little I know about this man he ascertains that one of the things that assisted him to quit smoking was the realisation that he was an addict. As per my other comment, I know that I am still an addict but I am just choosing not smoke each day.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
    Wish you were here. QWQ

I was a six year old when I saw a person who had had labotomy. To this day I can still see the 'fear' in this man's eyes. Electric shock therapy fries the the brain.................I saw my mother go down this path..........and all becasue of a mis-diagnoses. Bit off topic I know but the labotomy thing just bought back ancient memories.

Incedently I've seen every film of Jack Nickolson other than One flew Over the Cuckoo Nest.

    Thoughts? Well a few random ones;

Yes buy the Aprilia while you still can find a decent one.
Service the powervalves. They work well but need to be checked as if they seize/wear they will cause greif.
Run decent oil in both gearbox & 2 stroke tank

Smoking ciggies? Don't know anything about that apart from it smells dreadful. But there have been a couple of comments here that have concerned me. One beer a month?!? you don't want people to think yer Ghey? Must try harder.
& to the person who started off with 'Remember when Harry Potter etc' - WTF? are you 10? Leave your motorcycle at the door.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

Exacly what I did in 1999......
I bought a second hand Aprillia Pegaso from my ashtray account...,
    and lateron a Harley heritage....
Much better way of spending your money...

    Go for it..
I saved well over $35000 so far, and counting,
plus I feel way better myself.......
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....
