Hampton is a great track, it has a bit of everything.
Getting back to the main thread, I spoke to Tony Rees who tried a set of Shinko's on his old superbike (180+HP) at Pukekohe. He said they weren't as good as the top brand names, but they weren't that bad either. He never had any major issues with them and they are half the price.
So unless you intend to be racing for a top three finish I'd suggest trying the tyre while you get use to the new bike.
I'm thinking of trying a set of Shinko's myself.
How to make a small fortune out of motorcycle racing, start out with a BIG fortune
I tried some yokohama slicks at Bay Park once (1992). I qualified well on some old Michelins and fitted the new Yoko's for race day. In the scrub in session I thought I was flying as I was sliding it out of the big sweeper. But in the race my lap times were 1.5 sec slower than qualifying. It was power sliding but not going forward.
It will be interesting to see what they are like now.

Yeah I don't think their slicks were as good back then as Michelins etc, but for sure the 003's were great for 250 proddie racing!
Dunlop ftw!!!!!!!!!! :-d
I would have thought a Motoard tires profile would be all wrong?
