I am not that good on street circuits, only got 3rd at Paeroa, but got a shiney TT trophy at Hampton Downs.
Way to go! What's Hampton like to ride?

What I want to know is, are they designed specifically for motard use and does anyone know how they fair on the likes of my 400? Any one tried these before and how do they perform? Cheers

I've won 2 races in posties, on my zxr400, on Taupo short track with second hand supermoto shinko slicks after crasherfwb won his races. Probably the same set...so they cant be too bad.

Hampton is a great track, it has a bit of everything.
Getting back to the main thread, I spoke to Tony Rees who tried a set of Shinko's on his old superbike (180+HP) at Pukekohe. He said they weren't as good as the top brand names, but they weren't that bad either. He never had any major issues with them and they are half the price.
So unless you intend to be racing for a top three finish I'd suggest trying the tyre while you get use to the new bike.
I'm thinking of trying a set of Shinko's myself.

Like I said...I've raced on their slicks a couple of years ago...and they were fine for motard usage. I won my TT title back in '91' on 003 Yokohama's, which are basically Shinko's now.

I tried some yokohama slicks at Bay Park once (1992). I qualified well on some old Michelins and fitted the new Yoko's for race day. In the scrub in session I thought I was flying as I was sliding it out of the big sweeper. But in the race my lap times were 1.5 sec slower than qualifying. It was power sliding but not going forward.
It will be interesting to see what they are like now.

Yeah I don't think their slicks were as good back then as Michelins etc, but for sure the 003's were great for 250 proddie racing!

You maybe right. If it is a 008 then it is for road bikes.
