So I've been riding motorcycles for over three years now and it's generally been smooth sailing (up until my duke shat it self some kind of proper).

And now that I'm working full time and earning some decent money, I figure I would treat myself to a brand new street triple. It is amazing, everything I had hoped for a bike and more.

2 weeks later I wake up, get dressed for work, roll the bike out of the garage and try to start.

BUT NO!

It won't start, AND I have a flat rear.

Sounds like you're getting the "Triunmph Experience" or similar.

It wont start 'cos the battery is poked - Winter is here so pony up for a new one. And isn't it good you checked that rear before riding :)

I've had another bike survive winter perfectly happily living outside with a 10 year old battery. I am not paying if this battery is fucked. Plus it's unlikely as the dash turns itself off (gotta love these modern gimmatronics)

Dont sweat it,least you have had 2 weeks of it working,back in the day Trumpet owners had that every day.

Sorry to hear about your 'glitch'.

FWIW I had a dud battery in my brand new ST1300 - it took a bit of convincing for them to believe it but quickly replaced no probs - evidently the odd one is a dud. Good luck.

that battery is no issue, i would be more fucked off about the flat tyre...you know having to take the wheel off / driving it to the shop and then possibly having to fork out for new tyre...

I have called the shop and they are picking it up. It's just it's a pain in the arse, especially after spending 14k and it fucking up after 2 weeks.

Your battery is under warranty for 6 months. A more common fault is the rectifier going which makes it seem like a battery problem when it isn't.

A bit confused about your comment about the dash turning itself off though - it doesn't on mine.

Flat tyre can happen regardless of how new a bike is.

Doesn't sound too bad to me. I've had my street for about 6 months and only problem I've had was the rectifier issue (which was sorted out quickly and under warranty).
They are pretty reliable bikes all in all. Mine just ended up implanted in the back of a car on Friday night and it still starts fine (it now looks like a true streetfighter with bits smashed and missing).

I didn't.
Back in the day I rode '68 650 to work pretty much every day. I rebuilt the motor completely, once, (coz I threw the rods whilst over-revving it) and did the valve guides twice after that. Twaz a great machine and it made a mockery of the stories that they are leaky, unreliable and idiosynchratic.
