In space, no one can smell your fart.
So to get back on topic... Police found a burnt out Nissan Skyline not far down the road from the accident scene, this car had been involved in a crash and local residents near the scene described hearing the accident followed by a loud car accelerating away. The Police are seeking the occupants of the car, they also want to hear from anyone who saw the light silver 1995 Skyline GTS on the road between Christchurch and Oamaru early on Thursday morning.

Sad indeed, there are many things that seem odd with regard to this one from my take on it.
One thing I am noticing is the media have not seemed to make a comment on whether the car had been reported stolen or not, and we all know skylines have a tendency to be owned by the boy racer types. I am kind of watching this simply out of interest in the way society treats it and if when the killer is finally goes through the system what actually happens to them.
Thought go out to the family, and the folks doing the hard yards and investigating this as I suspect its going to be full of blind corners.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.
Person arrested re this crash.

Did he REALLY think he was going be involved with somebody being killed and get away with it?

Obviously he did, if he got rid of the plates, chasis number etc who would notice that all of a sudden he has no car!
Seriously, these young people can be as thick as pig shit.
Damn sad story for all concerned..even the driver has a little of my sympathy. Got in over his head and made it worse...poor bastard. He will be spending some time in jail but at least he can come out of it and make a new life for himself, the young rider will never be a father, will never grow old...death comes to us all and it is up to us to make the most of the days that we live.
Murky and foggy requires the utmost care and even then, if you're involved in an accident tearing off down the road to remove your vehicle's ID tags is not exactly kosher. If that's what this individual did. Just a charge at this stage, we'll see, sounds a bit suss though. (Where's my rope?)
Great work by the police in tracking these people from the car down. It is so awful to imagine the accident, and that a fellow human would drive off, concerned only about covering his tracks.
