If you do something often enough with no negative consequence, you begin to believe that it is perfectly safe.
Plus, it becomes ingrained as a driving habit and the 'right' way of doing it is lost. Glad to see it is being targetted.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

As I've said before: Few people ever have close calls or head-ons with vehicles they knew were coming the other way (except for the last two seconds I guess), mostly it's the "Holly fucksticks Batman, I never saw HIM coming..."

And I would put money on it that the majority of those ending up in that situation had been habitual 'corner-cutters'.

Too true. However, a certain number of such drivers is inevitable no matter what the enforcement or social climate. The end result of not accepting this as a fact of life is that those who do understand 'done with care' are penalised for no good reason and only end up feeling bitter.

That's life - I bet I can drive better after having drunk 4 bottles of beer than a spotty 17 year old...but I'm not allowed to by law, how unfair....and so on...

And there in lies the problem with relinquishing our laws to a few stuffy beaurocrats hidden away from reality. If we trust that the enforcers on the street have the ability to judge the difference for themselves the system becomes fairer for all.

I'd like to see ALL charges backed up by video evidence. This way you gain two things. On the one hand the accused has a much harder time of denying any wrong-doing because they can be shown the act over and over. Secondly, the event can be reviewed at a later date and we can actually excercise the right to defend ourselves in the courts because a judge can see for themselves wether or not the maneauvre was indeed truly dangerous.

I dont have a problem with the fuzz doing this, I see vehicles cutting corners quite often, and often on blind corners, its lazy and dangerous driving.

I only covered 100k's today and had a couple of vehicles come at me in my lane. Not completely, but definitely two wheels over the line. I don't have any issues with the cops snapping the wankers; crossing the centreline is way more dangerous than pulling 111kph, never mind the legalities of travelling at such a heinous speed.

What they have to realise is that permission is not required when either the photographer or the subject is on public land.

You need to explain that to certain members of the public - some of them on KB.

Can the police please bring that campaign to the rest of NZ?
Worst behaviour on the highways that I see the most of is exactly that!

I don't mind them focussing on that one bit.

Bigger problem than all this "speed" bullshit they have been flogging!

Watched a TransLink truck and trailor deliberately run three "red" lights through a wet Timaru HWY one on Friday night!

Now that's gotta be a trend for bikers to worry about!

If they do it right, I hope they do this kind of enforcement / education everywhere.
Anyone who will listen I will tell them our number one driver problem is lane control - all forms of lane control.

    I'm all for this.

Well, hopefully some of them will read it here and take note. Stranger things have happened.
