Given the reaction you have had so far I suggest it will be a lonely ride. Dont thaw out too many sausages boy.

Fuck, don't stop at Wellsford, venture further north, where some real poverty is, or doesn't it pulll the heart strings like a skinny African kid on TV?

Like many kiwis you have no idea what real poverty looks like. I applaud the efforts of the OP to do some good. We could argue whether the effort is effective or wise but don't knock someone for trying.

I'd rather send my money away to Nigeria trying to obtain some of old Uncle Rastus' $25,000,000 will. All I need is another 20K payment and it will be released, then I'll be rich rich rich

It is the same here in the US. Lotsa 'donate for Haiti' shit on the TV and the Prez gave a boat load of dough to those lazy cunts. Never mind the poverty stricken here in states like Kentucky and Arlansas. Clean up your own back yard first I say.

Too right. Alll these charit groups about saving starving children is a waste of time as you only prolong their suffering for another day. If anything an air drop of condoms in Afrika would be better, and ban the Catholic church from there as well.

Well I know what povity was like as I used to live near Highbury in Palmy. Too many poor families having more kids thn they could afford to feed.

Xpress is going on an aid project to Uganda. I support that.

BUT...having glanced at his blog and the Facebook page I'm still none the wiser about exactly what is proposed. Is this a one-man effort? Is there a group involved? If so, who are they? What is the intention of the project, where will the work take place?

There are quite a few NGOs working in Africa plus UNHCR and my preference is to support them because they know what they are doing and have people on the ground. Going in cold with good intentions can backfire.

    Here is an example http://www.habitat.org/cd/gv/trip_de...1&code=gv11118

    And I'm half-tempted by this http://www.habitat.org/cd/gv/trip_de...1&code=gv10360
