Here are the first batch of photos from the weekend. As to what was going on in some of them, just let your imagination run wild until I have the videos up![]()

Fantastic weekend;
Ride down on Friday was Sweet, those that missed the BP start caught up with us at at the fuel stop in Te Kuiti and we traveled down together on some awesome roads, it got bloody cold when the sun went down though and my bloody heated grips shat themselves
Saturday saw a bright sunny day and a trip down the forgotten world highway. What an awesome road that is the poor old 14 ran out of ground clearance a little to often
Stopped at the Whangamomona hotel for a feed then off to Stratford, Inglewood and calved some of the SH3 bends then Qkchk announced (a short cut) turn rightand led us down a freekin metal covered goat track that lasted for about 100k's
We joined back up with the FWH and then Qkchk 's bladder took over and it was a pacey ride back to Taumaranui for the loo and gas. Another night ride back to accommodation was soon over and then the drunken debortuary began, it involved hot pools alcohol and wet towels (what goes on tour, stays on tour
) it wasn't pretty
Sunday was a little wetbut many of us headed out Mrs KG and I went to Taupo had lunch, shopped and returned. On returning and once removed the wet gear had the call that a couple of guys had had a lie down on SH32 so we commandeered a Ute and a trailer and I splashed off to collect them. Gremlin and BB2 went ahead to locate the sodden pair, The VTR was ridable and made it back under its own steam but the GSXR got a lift. Again we all retired to the hot pools for a debrief (and pain relief). A big feed in the restaurant next door preceded the quiz night and social depravity that made for a fantastic evening in some great company.
The ride home today was in some of the heaviest rain Ive come across in all my years ridinguntil we got to Cambridge for gas and a feed then the sun came out and dry roads all the way home.
A bloody awesome weekend, thanks to Qkchk and Qkkid for organising it all and thanks to everyone for being such great company.
Edit; OMG the pics have started to come out (above) non of it was my fault, I have witnesses to say I was in my own bed all night!!!!!!
There- just fixed it for ya! Yes it is doing it regularly.
Left the Oasis at 9am this morning in pissing rain and rolled in here to Waihi just on 12 lunchtime. It rained all the way home till Matamata and then cleared beautifully! Nasty cross winds through the Tokoroa area had me on the white line a couple of times.
I had been hoping that the concensus would choose the Forgotten Highway. Ive been trying to get to that road for a long time....
And Thanks Qkchk for deciding on that 100 km gravel shortcut- I loved it, my BMW postie bike carves those clay roads, 140kph in places-whoop whoop! I have photos of the rides rather than the drunken antics coming soon- and a vid once I can get the bandwith to upload it.
What a weekend. big ups to the organisers - they kept it all running smoothly through the rain and the debauchery. The meals at the restaraunt next door are great, the new venue rocks and the management are cruisy and obliging. Hot pools - ahhhhhhhh!
So good to meet all the new faces, and very good that The newer riders decided to head off on their own less challanging ride rather than commit to the 800km treck that Dawn led us through. And triply good that Out4aDuck and Intoxicated came through their Diesel slick induced ballet performance without more than a subtle limp each.
An awesome weekends finish to a summers worth of riding!
Retired- just some guy with a few bikes......

Wow what a fun weekend!!! It was bloody fantastic to catch up with you all and ride down on friday and the forgotten highway on Sat were both fantastic rides.
The venue was great, the rooms warm and cozy and the owners friendly and accomodating.
Great to put a face and real name to some of the "characters" of this site and share a few laughs.
Being one of those that took a lie down on the Sunday I would also like to thank one and all for the degree of help and friendly concern shown. An especially big thanks should go out to Lance, a Harley rider from Taumarunui, who picked me and the bike up, "Borrowíng"a trailer from a friend down the road and going out of this way with his little girl to drop me and the bike back to the motel.
Another thanks should again go out to the owners of the motel and the restaurant who supplied at short notice a vehicle and trailer so KG could drive out to pick us up, only to find the local Lance had beaten him to it. Not to mention giving me a secure place to store the bike until I pick it up this coming week.
For those that are interested, I might have been dancing around fairly well this morning but after riding Andrews bike back in the torrential rain that KG described (Good bloke that CCcleaner(SP)) I took my leathers off to reveal a black leg.. thinking it was leater stain at first.. but no.. it was real and internal
Funniest qoute of the weekend for me (Sorry dude) was the VTR following me when I hit the diesel..."I thought wow greg has fallen off, where did that sky come from..... Damn!!!".
Nuff said... Oh and thank you to the car behind me that, although he could not stop on the diesel did managed not to run over me or treat me as motorbike dickhead!!!
Thought for the day... When you lie down and realised you have just destroyed the bike you have been building for 4 years, a full set of leathers, wets and a $1200 helmet, its a good time to contemplate if this biking malarky is actually worth it all.... I did.
and the answer is absolutely!!!!!!
(Thanks Qickkids for the organisation!!)

Twas an excellent weekend even with the rain. Cruised on up sat morning passed 6 marked and at least one unmarked cars belonging to the establishment and a couple of them were "making contact with the public". Spent the afternoon/night in the hot pools drinking appropiate quatities of ale and general chit chat . sat morning saw a few of us brave the rain and go for a quick tour up the mountian and along a canel and around then back to the hot pool for more ale and general chit chat. It was good to catch up with other KB guys and gals from around the country. The tent sprung a couple of leakes sat night and there were a few offers of a spare bed one of which I took up - thanks guys. Ride home today was wet wet wet and gale force winds top of desert road and near bulls. Still swa 5 members of the establishments and some of which were still "making contact with the public". I'm definitly a starter for next year
Twas great to catch up!
