    Christchurch, best bike parking city.

How is it, that Christchurch has free motorcycle parks on nearly every main street with close proximity to nearly everything you would want.
This is truly fantastic, Please, Other cities, follow suit. Auckland, you could do with several bike parks nestled around the place. You can fit 5 bikes in a car park, that could be the ticket to get less cars on the roads.
What are others thoughts on motorcycle parking in cities. Where there are no parks, I use foot paths.

Yep. Pretty good down here. Really makes my blood boil though when I see a car parked over the bike park I use at the Palms mall when I go to get my lunchtime sushi on Sundays. Three times it has happened now and goddamit, next time I see someone using a car in the two wheeled park I'll make bloody sure they only have two useable wheels left when they return to their vehicle (not theft ... just air removed).

Yeah it's well sorted, and as long as you're respectful never any issues with footpath parking either.

A few years back some Norflander parked in the M/C park outside Sportzone on Machester jumped into his black RangeOver and reversed right into my black XT600 also parked in the M/C park. Don't assume reasonable responses from unreasonable parkers.

Check out the motorcycle parking section of the Wiki. There is plenty of free motorcycle parking:

Also note that all of the city council car parking buildings in Auckland CBD offer free motorcycle parking as well.

I usualy do park on the footpath outside of whereever im going given there is space.
but the other day in the city, i think it was wellesly street (auckland). a parking warden said id get a fine if i leave my bike on the footpath.

apparently a parked motorcycle intimidates pedestrians and makes them uncomfortable. never heard that BS before

True. That's why I wasn't going to waste my time discussing the matter with the next twat that does it. Direct Action! To be honest I'll probably wimp out and just leave a rude note under his windscreen. The last one (Sunday just past) cruised straight in, jumped out of the car and headed jauntily into the Fox and Ferret.

If I see them parking in them, whether I'm on my bike or not, I just warn them that it's not unusual for car in bike parks to get heavily keyed.
