    Vanilla extract is processed with alcohol and 'real' vanilla uses very little alcohol. I use 'real' vanilla. It's like using 'real' saffron... well worth the difference.

    Besides if vanilla ice-cream was brown, what would happen to Neopolitan

    Ah, I was presuming the contents of the tin of black paint was black paint. I don't consider 'black' to be a colour. Therfore the contents are not a colour. but if the contents of a tin of black paint was not black paint then I don't know... do you have a particular tin of black paint in mind?
