Rego has no bearing on the insurance issue. They fully cover the bike AND are advising all bikers to NOT PAY the rego!

Also. A WOF is not required by them.
The bike does have to be up to a warrantable standard though.
Are you Insured with Crazy Steve Insurance , I understand they pay you a $517 no claims bonus.

I very much doubt you would do a lot of damage to your bike without doing damage to yourself.Dont ask me how I know.
In a nutshell, wot I"m saying is if you dont rego it,then dont ride it.
and while your not doing any activity that you havent paid acc for... stay off pushbikes and playing sport!

My understanding (and I'm only a bush lawyer) is that the legislation (Insurance Act) says they can only refuse to pay out if the act or omission was the cause or a contributing factor in the accident. (i.e. no rego can't have caused the accident, but no driver's licence may have been, because you haven't proved to the Gummint that you can control the vehicle).
^^^ What he said. I've asked this question to somebody who works in insurance and they came back with the same answer.

    Wrong.

I have been fully paid out twice on >250cc motorbikes (on a 6R license) that were hit by other road users riding beyond their limits.

As long as your lack of an appropriate license was not a causative factor in the crash, it does not matter what class(es) you do or do not hold. Their insurance companies may tell you otherwise, but they're just trying it on to see if you know your rights or not. Don't back down.

    Which leads us on to:

I suppose that with all the acc and insurance bullshit going on they are tightening up there blelts. best we all be legal citizens
As long as the car was in warrantable condition (IE, didn't have anything wrong that was a contributing factor to the crash, he should have been able to get them to pay out fully.

The insurance companies do like to deny this, however, on the off-chance that they can get away with it. Like in this case.
