How long is reasonable to wait for insurance?

Provided things are in order I thought this time frame would be reasonable if not quicker. Once you've jumped through a few hoops like insurance companies seem to like you to do these day it should be pretty much cut and dried I would have thought another two to three days after the last of the hoop jumping would be fair.
Lance this is bullshit mate, if you've gone through all the palava that they've asked you to then it should be settled by now bar the shouting.

well I have given them the benefit of the doubt on this one. crashed 23/5/10 claim 24/5/10. today is 26/6/10 and they are negociating to settle early next week. Single bike accident.. no other invloved. Bike obviously written off. I am not going to lay fault anywhere but it seems like the insurance company itself, rather than the broker have made this harder than it needs to be. cross fingers for some good figures to come out next week!

Ahh Insurance compamies. I've had good and bad with them. When I was just a young buck, I had a guy pull out in front of my car (about 6 feet in front). Coppers judged him at fault. Then........................... State insurance told me my 5 year old commodore wasn't in warrantable condition at the time of the accident! What?????? New tyres, new brake pads and a 2 month old warrant of fitness, they sited my handbrake didn't work. I told them when I was desperatly trying not to hit the clown, I had ripped up the handbrake and the cable had snapped. State recond that was an obvious defect.

It even went to court but because I was a responsible lad and had a low paying job I could only fight it so far. 15 Grand down the hole including the car. Citizens advice could only help me so far and legal aid weren't interested.

I guess it might depend on whether there is a third party who needs to foot the bill - if not, should be settled fairly quickly.

One of our locals had to wait a couple of months for the cage driver to fork out for his bike, thankfully, he had some spare bits at home and managed to fix it enough to keep riding it, but it took simply ages to get the money for insurance because they need to re-coup it first from other party - was the what happened here anyway

I waited almost a year to the day when I was knocked off my bike in the Uk, the driver of the car even got done for careless or something like that. It was totally her fault, plod report etc. backed that up but they still didn't want to pay out. I got a solicitor on to them in the end, he was a good bastard as he got them to pay his fee's as well.

I even had her fella come round the house once to try to get me to say it was my fault, I told plod that he was trying to intimidate me, can't remember what happened about that though.
