    Keys left in bike..

I'm lucky enough to have bike parking under our building at work. I went down for a smoko earlier and saw that one of the bikes still had the key in the ignition so left a note and took said key back to my desk. I would have been gutted if I had left it there and the bike was nicked.

Now I've just been down for another smoke and the bike has gone. I'm hoping that he had a spare key on him but I would have thought he would have called me to get his key back.

Cheers, He leaves his lid with his bike as well so it wouldn't be to much hassle for a very brazen toad to take off on it. Granted there are quite a few people around but some of those toads have big balls!

Why wouldn't the owner go and ask for the keys back? I don't get it.

Not a new bike I take it? I can start mine and remove the key. I am going to start pretending it has a turbo My first bike (also a Yay maha) I could start with a coin. Not very helpful am I?

Yeah.. I have a BMW like that.
If you dont take the keys out, they will just fall out. Then you can't find them. Doesn't mean you cant start the bike, you can do that with a coin. But its bloody hard to get back in the house to the beer fridge...

I have a front door key on a different tag. Still I have tried starting the BB with a coin/screwdriver/other key and it is a no go situation. I think I may remove her keys once she is well warmed up and running in case they commit hari kari and leap out at 99.99999 kph ( I never go faster than 100, for you can die doing that).

my old gn was like that. i ended up having a thin chain around the handle bars with a key ring. i would tie to the two together everything i went out, just in case.

Neither, I'm stumped with that one.

It's a very tidy 900 Hornet, not sure about the vintage. I can take the key out of mine when it's running too.

So now you have a key to a bike that will probably be parked in the same area tomorrow...
