He should have chosen his words more carefully, it's possible to say whats on your mind without getting too basic about it. 'Fans' have always existed and always will. RB's the one who needs to get his act together.

Andy Haden rocks! He's the Michael Laws of rugby.

There should be more people in this country who are quite prepared to say what they believe and damn the torpedos.

Might take a bit of the heat off me.

Andy Haden - See what too many tackles and picking up soap in the showers does to you?

I'd say that behind the scene he was poltiely asked to resign...it looks better that way. and chicks throwing themselves at men is not just limited to sporting professionals.

They do that in employment as well .. which is a shame ... as resignation looks so much nicer than fired! It is not what he said ... its the lack of awareness of what he was saying.

I actually agree with what Haden said, and I think women who go hunting sports stars and get completely pissed in the process are a problem, but Haden was an idiot sounding off. He needed to learn to be a little more moderate, but he wasn't.

I used to work the door on a club that was quite popular with some of the Crusaders and ABs and worked quite closely with the ABs minders because the moment the boys turned up this pack of dirty girls was all over them like a rash. Their minders used to get very pissed off and we were often asked to throw the dirty girls out for intox.
Don't blame me, I voted Green.

It's a sad day when you say what you think, and everyone knows it to be true, but you still get pilloried for it.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I tend to agree.... Unfortunately we dont really like to confront the ugly truths about ourselves so we deem these things to be 'inappropriate' and off limits. I listened to what he said and they way he said it was quite understanable especially in the context of the conversation. Taken out of this context it can seem to be outrageous... He was not saying all women are cheap whores but rather that a certain type of person under certain conditions will deliberately target sportsmen of fame and often regret it once they have sobered up. In no way does he defend what others may have done but rather he is warning that playing with fire will get your fingers burnt...

Lets face it, sports stars get to be famous because they are really good at sport... NOT because of their fine moral characters and good judgement. Teams at the top level spend more time keeping their players on the straight and narrow than they do training them in their job (well almost).. Often they are not nice people, just like movie stars etc etc it is one narrowly focussed talent that makes them famous...

Of course this also applies to the media. Many many television current events reporters are driven by a need to be as famous as an all black and if a few people need to get hurt along the way? So be it, its the price we pay for their fame and what particularly gaulls me is they feel they have the right to delve into the most personal aspects of anyones life but if you dare come near them they explode in a fit of righteous rage about privacy etc etc (Mike Hoskins would be one) because if you knew much about them, well you wouldn't want a bar of em... Not to say poor behaviour is acceptable its just that it needs to be balanced fairly.

Sadly - it never is as the media controls the media and also the version of events...

Personally why the hell anyone listens to the unqualified opinion of these gits is beyond me. I'd rather be in the shed working on something

But then again ... I don't know that I will side with anyone who thinks having sex with an unconscious woman is acceptable - is being unconscious a form of consent now?

Is there someone who is saying that is OK? Because I don't think Haden is. Mind you, if he'd been (reported as) saying that it was abhorrent, he'd be a hero, eh?

I was just thinking of the other implications that are out there from what has been said ... I don't know that these woman are seeking money - in fact it is probable that they wouldn't get any anyway ... but the implication is that they are doing this for money ... I don't know .. in fact no one here does .. as Paul said we are only getting a media view and we know their beat up

The other side is .. what would have happened if they went to the police when this happened ... not too sure but often branded as a slut looking at having sex with a sports star.
