Good morning from Montreal chaps, finaly found my login shit.

Was lucky enough to sit on the Super Tenere First Eddition promo bike at Lofeten in Norway.

Having only read briefly about it it would be safe to say these are not adventure bikes but tourers with a sit up position.

These bikes are BIG and too big for anyone under 6 ft tall, shaft drive is cool, I have a few closeup pictures of the goodies that make it work and when I get home will post them up if anyone is interested.

You didn't manage to hotwire it & take it for a cruise. Post the pics & hope you're having a good time.

Heya Padmai, yeap been pretty groovy trip eh but missing the riding big time. The guy with the Tenere was the father of the guy who has the dealership so the bike was on a promo ride, couldn't ask about a ride cos engrish and germenish wasn't happening well

    Heya fellas

    Back in NZ now.

Pics as promised, for anyone who hasn't seen one in real life they are NOT an adventure bike but a big arse tourer adv lookalike.

You will have to be over 6 ft tall to have one and preferably some pretty good weight lifting titles to your name if it went to ground.

Anyway, enjoy, any questions I can answer I will but the pics say most of it, I didn't get to ride it.

It is a motha of a bike alright...BUT, looking at the video of the Dutch press flicking it around, it didn't look too bad. The thing that got me about the release was that NZ wasn't included in the first release with all the extra add ons. Australia was, this was luggage, crash bars, lights etc. I may be wrong but this was included for European release as the first edition. For the $24000 they are asking it would have been a good buy, but good bye now..
I did read this on the press release article, rang Yamaha NZ and that was the answer I got. PLUS, the dealer wanted a deposit up front sight unseen to reserve the bike because numbers were limited for us here and they were mostly pre sold....Bummer.

I had a decent spin on Trevor's demonstrater today, on a mix of seal and gravel. Overall, good fun and easy to ride. Peppier in the mid-range than my R1200GS Adventure, feels lighter to ride, lower seat height, 20 km/l, great mirrors. A bit icy, in places!

With knobblies (and a bash plate) it'll go wherever similar bikes go.
