Now for some practise around cones or similar and I will go for the bike handling thing.
Stupid thing is that now I can do it I can't understand why I was making it so difficult oh thats right I was going too wide instead of keeping a straighter line
    Practise, practise, practise
Get low speed handling nailed, and everything else will be a lot easier
The road to hell is paved...

My problem was the opposite when I first tried a slalom, I went in too much of a straight line and ploughed through all the cones! It's amazing how bendy a cone is and how effective a motorcycle is as a plough is all I learned

Great to hear you are getting on top of it Mrs Shrek. My better half has also decided to try her hand at riding her own instead of sitting behind me. We have bought her a wee GN125 to learn on. After about 6 or 7 rides around the sub-division Mrs Jackal is already looking at 250cc cruisers on Trade-me. We have been putting the cones out on the road in front of the house and practicing for her BHS test. Have one question about those cones. In the road code it says they are 3.5m apart and offset 0.5m from a straight line. Does that make them 1m apart from each other when looking at them from each end (ie: 0.5m each side of a center line) or are they only 0.5m apart in a straight line. What have you got your icecream lids at?

Cheers and keep the good work

Blatantly stolen from somebody else's website, I was looking at it the other day to check what my son needs to know for his BHS test....

Make a straight line of 6 cones 3.5 meters apart then move one cone to the left of the line 0.5mts and the next one to the right of the line 0.5mts.

    All the best Mrs Jackal

Thanks for that Neels and Mrs Shrek. Ginny is just going to have to practice a bit more. My cones are getting a bit of a workout at the mo. I think the secret might be for her to keep looking up and not at the cone she is trying to round????????????? Have booked her for her BHS test in Chch on the 6th August with a bit of a training session before hand. Cheers guys

If its any help I found that I was looking down at the cone instead of a couple of cones ahead to see where I should be headed, when I got that into the old brain along with the going straighter bit I was away.
