Seeing as Spies is 8th in the championship and Simoncelli 9th not that badly.
A bit of a reminder how freakish Kenny Roberts efforts in winning the 78 championship was seeing as it was his first time in Europe.

I am not against Spies I think he is a grea rider but I think some of the other rookies are just as good Simoncelli is a 250 GP world champion Spies is a superbike they are both rookies and I think are both just as good as one another

I was actually hoping Roger Lee Hayden would have been up there as he is a bloody marvellous rider

should be a bloody good race whatever the result, probably my favorite circuit to watch.
    Exactly as I see it.
It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

8th and 9th doesn't really tell the story though does it? Spies has had a dnf that wasn't his fault.

Spies has also been on the podium.

Not sure about the Rossi / Pedrosa battle tho. I will put a excuse clause in here Too...As I write this I haven't seen the grid positions from qual so guessing blind. I'm not sure Spies will make the cut despite popular opinion.

Victory for Lorenzo at Laguna Seca extends Championship lead

The Fiat Yamaha rider won his sixth race of the 2010 campaign at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix after Dani Pedrosa crashed out when leading. Second place for Casey Stoner marked his best result of the season so far, whilst Valentino Rossi finished an admirable third.
Shock horror eh ...Dani made 21 laps before he circumed. Sounds like a good race .. have to find a copy

Race had its moments mainly exciting for the minor places though, Rossi looked completely knackered at the end and gave it his all hunting down and passing Dovi in the final stages, give me a buzz if you want a copy pm with number sent.

Well for a little while there I was looking Godlike... but wound up just OK.

WTF happened Spies fans? Home track, home fans, bike that should have been on the front row. 6th out of 12. Thank fuck Pedro crashed and De Puniet was injured.

Still he didn't look as big a knob when he got amongst the good guys this time so maybe there's hope when he gets on a factory machine.

Didnt you say Edwards was gonna beat Spies??

And for sure Spies screwed up, but he passed Hayden and was dicing with rossi, and pushed it a little hard and made a mistake but he will only get better with more experience with the big boys!

Don't think he's ever looked like a knob! I thought he'd go better than he did for sure...but I'd hardly call what he did bad. 19 seconds down from the winner...on a satelite bike in your first season? Not too shabby.

Call it even on the beer front.

Plus Spies was way ahead of Simoncelli even before Simoncelli crashed!

Reality check today which showed that there is daylight between the top 4 and the Merican Superbike riders. All the hype about Spies could haunt the guy into becoming the new Mr Edwards.

Edwards could fight back... meh... maybe not.

Maybe "knob"was a little harsh but I don't think the Tech III bike was very "satellite" this weekend.

Spies is 26, Renzo and Simoncelli 23, Dovi 24, Pedro and Stoner 25. He's picked a really bad time to arrive. Stoner on a Honda will be frightening and he's going to be teammate to Lorenzo... I fear for his mental health.
