No. Up till now you've just been happy to quietly bathe in the excuses that others have blindly granted you.

It Hitcher had chosen a different line or indeed taken his chances with the shit, an accident may have been avoided.
If Hitcher had been travelling at an even more sedate speed he may have had more options available.
If Hitcher had been more aggressive with his braking on an ambiguous road surface, an accident may have been avoided.

There were many variables in play here, some of which were in Hitcher's control. Other riders may have coped impeccably with these. Hitcher didn't. Hitcher is not making excuses.
Hitcher is a realist. A good post.

I didn't read it as such, viz: "Life is a sequence of moments. We make choices. We reap consequences for those."
Sounds to me like a grown-up taking responsibility for his actions.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Sorry, that doesn't fit with the katman world view and is therefore invalid in his eyes.

I on the other hand think you have it bang on.

The whole world (in NZ) is covered in cow-shit nowadays but if it is the only thing paying for our petrol, I guess we will just have to get used to it!

That's why I ride a venture bike, our roads are not really up to sporty bike standard!

Spose you are all back together again like humpty dumpty now Hitcher, many happy returns!
