EX-Stolen CBR600RR 2004 with a broken ignition barrel

hi guys, my first post here.
i know someone posted something similar last year but am checking again now if anyone has used parts or any new solutions come up.

i just bought the bike, it has no ignition barrel, and the horrible hiss security system.
apparently it's built into the ECU so there's no way around replacing the ECU + Barrel + Keys + Fuel Cap etc....

i looked on trademe without any luck, does anyone have parts or wrecking one of these?
if it's too expensive i'd rather remove this hiss and use the old fashioned alarm system.
i looked on ebay too for US non hiss ECUs they are $100-$200NZD only, will these work on this bike?
also advice on any alternatives if u're experienced.

If it was my bike, I'd look at aftermarket (non-HISS) ecu options.

Mate, if you are going to "make money" by buying damaged bikes, you have to accept the "buyer be ware" aspect of business.

An American ECU & Ignition sounds easiest. Wont help putting the petrol in tho...

I'm absolutely convinced that these system cause legitimate owners and repairers far more trouble than they ever cause thieves, particularly those that steal for parts.

The bike is still lifted on the back of a ute just as quick as it ever was, and with the exception of the ECU, all the parts are still ready to sell.

But the poor legitimate owner who misplaces his keys, or has an errant ECU now faces bills of thousands of dollars just to get mobile again.

Late model cars are even worse.

The ignition barrel checks the key.
The dashboard checks the key.
The body control module checks the key.
The ECU checks the key.
The gearbox checks the key.

And when they, individually or collectively fuck up, like all electronics do eventually, the legitimate owner walks home, to face a really big bill.

Just to be back where he was, before some clever bastard decided to save him $10 a year on his insurance premium.

Is this the one from cars on demand? i only ask cause if it is i viewed it at turners and then i know what bike i'm talking about.

If it is, you should have the original key, all that appears broken is the transponder ring, this only transmits to and reads the information on the key and just relays it to the ecu and the ecu figures out if it's the right key and to start the engine.
Get another ignition switch and transponder ring and it should be ok without having to get an ecu, who's going to sell those bits seperately? apart from honda, i have no idea.

I can tell you how to code the new key to the ecu, it's going to be a fiddle, but it looks do-able.

Those non hiss ecu's are probably canadian market as they don't use the hiss system there, they should work.

someone called me with the whole lot "used parts" ecu+barrel+key etc...
he knew what he was doing so i sold him the bike at the same price i got it.

got myself a yamaha R6 instead

thanks again, i wish there was a certain way to know for sure if the non H.I.S.S ecu would work, could save some people a lot of hassle.

also since the original key was on the bike, Auckland's Honda dealer told me i just need a new barrel and receiver, bout $700!

Without the key i would've had to spend $3000+ on new parts or bout $500 on used parts from aussi.

and bloody thiefs should go find a damn job

Hope you got a set of keys for your R6
