Did you read the bit where it says where ... it is an offence to Impede the flow of traffic ... ????

Travelling at 70 km/hr ... when (most) others are travelling at 100 (plus) could be seen by some as doing that ...

What are the conditions of a learner licence?

    * You must not ride a motorcycle with an engine capacity greater than 250cc.
    * You must not ride faster than 70km/h on the open road.
    * You must not ride between 10pm and 5am.
    * You must display an L (learner) plate on the back of your motorcycle at all times when you are riding. Failure to display L plates could result in 25 demerit points and a fine of $100.
    * You must have your learner licence with you whenever you are riding.
    * You must not carry a passenger.
    * If you're under 20 years of age, the legal alcohol limit is 150 micrograms per litre of breath or 30 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood. This is effectively a zero limit - consuming just one drink will mean you can be charged with drink-driving. If you're 20 or older, the legal alcohol limit is 400 micrograms per litre of breath or 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood.
    * Breaching the learner conditions of your driver licence (other than failing to display L plates) could result in you receiving 35 demerit points and a fine of $100. If you breach any other conditions of your driver licence you could receive 25 demerit points and be subject to a fine of $400.

It does state that you are legally allowed on the open road to a limit of 70kmh. Being realistic I do not think that a biker will sit at that speed and be safe. Thus going the speed of the road.....

I would understand why a cop would be pissed when you have a blatent disrespect for the conditions of your license.

Meh. When I were a nipper I were done for exceeding the posted limit AND speed dangerous.

If you don't hold up traffic (grey area) you can go on any highway or motorway at 70kph or less, but its hard work.
Basically if a push-bike can ride there (excluding cycle lanes) so can a learner or even a moped, its another debate if you should or not. Its just another form of 2 wheeled adventure though.

actually... the min speed on a motoway is 40km.hr. So you can quite legally ride at 70k/hr on the motorway...

I don't understand why you wouldn't just stay off the motorway for 6 months instead of acting like the restrictions on a learner license is an imposition on your human rights

Although.. I should have said... Its perfectly legal to travel at 41km/hr on the motorway in a striaght line for those of you who cant drive in a striaght line.

exactly. even though I think 40km/hr min limit for the motorway is way too low. should be 100km/hr min unless you are at a junction.

exactly! and having a learners licence for 18months is just plain lazy.

Its not a case of human rights. It's a case of using a road. Simple as that. 6 months without using the motorway without a car to use anymore is quite difficult, specially if you use your bike for going from A to B everyday... not just for leisure.

Ok yeah my bad should have gotten my restricted earlier instead of quote "Blatantly disrespecting my licence" but for some reason I never got round to it. Remind me next time to get a nice big bike so I can really disrespect my licence, rather than not just having L plates.

I'm not looking for slander or a slap on the wrist. It was a simple question of whether you can get charged twice for doing the same thing. Simple as brow.!

So I'm guessing that you wil be booking for your R asap.
What has happened to you is just the reason I got my R asap...I struggled with the 70k, and falied. I never had the L on...risk I took. Fortunately, when I did get pulled over on both occassions neither cop cared.
Sorry you've been pinged but that is the risk you took. You know you'll get your R no problem so go do it. I'll have my full by Christmas...I'm not fcuking around.
