I was a hoon in a car back in the early 70s ... boy racers are doing nothing new .. just in newer and faster cars ... and the people who criticise them were most likely just the same in their youth ...

If you plead not guilty and fight it every step ... and lose ... you're likely to get the maximum sentence - at the least you'll get 12 months disqualificiation and a big fine...

Nobody ever gets the maximum sentence. Ever. You might get a little more but the risk is worth it - so many things can happen in the interim that will see the case fall flat on its face.

$600 and 6 months loss of licence.

It's a pretty clear cut case, he assaulted the cop, and he got let off without penalty.

The more court appearances one has to go through for the same offence, the higher the chance 'they' will make a mistake leading to a technicality. A mate of mine got charged with sustained loss of traction, and the summary of facts stated that he did a skid for about 20m. With his second court appearance, the cop changed his story and said the skid lasted for 25-30m. It's minor things like that which can have a big impact on the case.

Cunts like this shit me to tears.

Like the other respondents say, there will be some minimum penalty involving plenty of $. Probably the day liscence is going to cost you more than the fine.

No one likes kissing up to the enforcement nazi's but grovelling is probably going to serve you better than being staunch, they seem to have a problem with showing no remorse.

Difference is: Back then me & my mates didn't trash property, intimidate people, wind up the traffic cops, leave a mountain of rubbish on the roadside or tip oil and shit on the road to enable our cars to skid (anybody who dared would have been laghed out of town for having a pussy car that it needed oil on the road to do a skid)

There is a difference between car enthusiasts and hoodrats who cruise around in Skidders and old school Rollas with no springs and hacked up exhausts on a pseudo licence.

no need for work lisence as spend half my life in a floating tin can drifting off the taranaked coast with other two wheeled detaines . sooooooo 6 months loss really is 3 months annnnnnnnnnnnnd i still get to talk bout bikes daily with fellow inmates . 6 months gets me back on the road for march .

I would suggst that you pay the fine on your latest infringement before your court appearance, preferably the day before. That way I believe your latest demerits get wiped on loss of licence. If you pay your fine after, then you will get your licence back with demerits already accrued.
