Wellington wind dilemma

I picked up a yamaha zeal obviously it had been blown over in today's breezes.Not the first bike I've picked up but I always wonder what if it blows over again.
What would you prefer if it was your bike?Leave it alone or pick it up?

Very nice of you, maybe leave a note saying that you have picked it up and that the owner could park it in a better spot? on tie it to a pole

depends, if there was nothing changed, ie you couldn't part it on more of an angle and the winds hadn't died down at all, it'd probly just go over again so leave it imo, but if it'd less likely to go over again then pick it up, ta!

Leave it on its side. As painful as it is to see it on its side, At least there wont be any more damage done to it if it blows over again.

I try to reposition them so that the face into the wind if possible.

I would have picked it up as well
I would have tryed to change the angle it was parked on so it couldn't blow over again, if possible (steering lock can make it difficult)

Please pick my bike up and face it to a better angle to the wind. Leave a note if you can though, so I have a better chance with my insurance company.

I couldn't walk past and see a bike lying on its side. It's an unnatural thing. I'd stand it up and realign it so the wind wouldn't flatten it again.

I do worry, however, about Wellington riders who don't seem to take the prevailing wind into account when making a selection of bike park.

I'd be more inclined to leave it alone, after all the damage is already done. I see no benefit to picking it up. For one it could blow over again and then there would be twice as much damage. Worse still owners are precious about their bikes and are likely to shoot first and ask questions later.

Personally I don't think its worth the agro of being accused of interfering with another persons bike when I was only looking to do a good deed.

I'm with you on that one. It's a bit like being too pissed to stand, once you're down you're best to stay there.

I park my bike there,...you've just got to park it a little angled and ensure that it's leant over sufficiently on the sidestand. 230kg's helps too

I got myself a 300Kg ST so it would be unlikely to get blown over.

If it does, I'd appreciate anyone picking it up for me 'cos I can't.

Personally I would appreciate my bike picked up. A note would be nice but not everyone carries a pen and paper all the time.

If its left laying down you can get petrol leaking and it takes up a lot more parking space on its side too.
