Well, I've taken the plunge and joined kiwiracer. Just applied to get access to racer section. Not got licence yet (way too early) put up a compelling case so will see what happens. I want to get a group going (unless 1 is already there) for sidecars away from the non sidecar fraternity.
I'm trying to get as much feedback and opinions as I can so WILL start a thread on here as well.
Yes, but it seems this chap wants a forum AWAY from non sidecar types........ I still believe such attitudes are treading on dangerous waters.........
There is only 4 million people in NZ, and if even 1% of the population gave a rats arse about racing (that is an extra high estimate) then thats only 40,000 people who care, and doing anything to alienate them is foolish.
actually its way way waaaaay less than that!
In reality there is something like 1000 active users on this site.
Perhaps we should have a site for suspension too, and another for clutches?
That should draw a membership of say, 11 people NZ wide.
That will pay for the bandwidth, no doubt.
I'm just sayin' is all..................
If as I suspect Kiwiracer goes the same way as previous sites and becomes the place to vent against officials personally and officialdom generally then I want a site where volounteer officials, volounteer marshals and people who put their time and money into the sport can vent about ungrateful riders....
MNZ has the life members to add some experience and wisdom to the system.
Limiting any site to only those involved in the current scene is shortsighted.
Yip,Very well said and aint it funny its always the experts that know everything there is to know after being involved in the sport for a very small amount of time,That dont actually want to be actively involved in the administration,Its Soooo much easier to pick holes in everybody elses efforts.
God some of you can talk a load of self righteous Bullshit.
get a grip people ffs![]()
Ive run out of fucks to give
And the generalizations on heresay and forum based ramblings start being believed as fact.
Shit Billy, you of all people I would have thought would support a forum for Racers
Anyway, new members everyday and some very notable racers so will leave some of you lot to continue to DISS it...............not that I would expect anything different from here anyway lol
Ive run out of fucks to give
What and who I support are the people that get off their butts and are out there trying to keep the sport running IE the roadrace commission,The MNZ board and office staff,All the officials and support workers (flag marshalls, crash crews etc)that turn out and run the sport no matter how hard it gets or how much flak they have too take when they mess up,These people are the lifeblood of the sport!!
Internet forums on the other hand are for social interaction and keyboard jockey/heroes who for the most part dont actually want to do anything more than rubbish the doers in society.
If you REALLY want to make a difference,Get on a club commitee and EARN some respect

The problem is Billy, not everyone is gifted in the administration department and if we all did what you are suggesting here all we would be doing is making possibly a bigger mess on motorcycle racing in NZ. I hear what you are saying and I agree that if all we do on Kiwiracer is bitch on about how bad it is for us poor racers then it won't achieve anything, but the simple fact is, its not like that and if I have anything to do with it then it will keep being not like that. In fact, you would be interested to know that there is a thread on KR already suggesting that "we" the racers are to blame for the lack of external input from businesses into our sport.
I think people are determined on here to twist shit into what its not about. Kiwibiker is a great forum to discuss all sorts of things that should and can be aired in public. The simple fact is, some things don't need to be on a public forum. As has already been suggested earlier on in this thread, what if we made up an email list or decided all to meet in a pub to discuss these issues? Should we ban any organized groups who discuss issues that ONLY concern them? Its not another kiwibiker site...its not for people to slander others involved in the running of races etc. If anyone does that they will be put back in line.
I actually hope MNZ officials join Kiwiracer. I hope all the marshalls and club administrators join too (they may not have access to every aspect of the new forum but at least they can see what is going on). They are ALL directly involved in the racing scene so have every right to join Kiwiracer. Actually, thinking about it, don't you think MNZ has meetings they don't invite us to? Should they? Of course not, were not the ones challenged with the management of Motorcycling in NZ, they are and as such they need the freedom and ability to do what needs to be done. Why cant we as a group of racers have that same ability and freedom? I'm really not trying to be facetious here either...or demeaning to you, I'm trying to explain its not about "Them" and "Us" here...its NOT divisive, its not a big middle finger to the rest of people involved in our sport...its just about trying to organize a unified group of racers...that's all.
Sometimes something 'new' is a good catalyst to produce something "better'...its all about how it is managed.
