oh yeah. i thought you had a 'trick' so to speak. most cops are treated with respect, (especially if you are breaking a license rule). Doesn't mean you get let off though. If you get given a warning then that's a great bonus!

All anyone wants from these rides is...well...a ride, on an interesting road, with other riders, to a destination, where they can talk shit with said other riders. When you complicate it too much people get frustrated. We've tried things in the past for various reasons, but in the end people just want to go for a ride.

    Totally agree
OK so while we are encouraging and inviting the hords of the unWOFed and the unREGed to join our rides lets look at one practical aspect of having them there. As they are unwofed and or unreged they will be uninsurable.

Tristan, late last WNR season you had a coming together with one of our regular riders. My understanding is that he did the honourable thing and his insurance covered the damage to your bike. Had you been punted by someone uninsurable the chances are they would have run, taking all their mates with them. Repairs to your bike??????

Helen early December 2008 on the way to the Wheatsheaf you, along with several others, had a very near miss. Had you had been punted into the shrubery on your Blue Duke whose insurance would have covered your repairs.

A lot of the unWOFed and unReged are likely to be occasional riders with little bike knowledge and less skills, coupled with the belief that their name is Valentino Rossi or Jorge Lorenzo. This will tend make them interesting (dangerous) riding companions. I'm very glad to be at the back of the pack and out of the potential carnage.

I think those of our regulars who ride in the middle of the pack will need to check their insurance policies to see if their covered for being punted by Rossie/Lorenzo clones.

If one of the uninsurables punts one of our regulars, then our regular's insurance will cover their damage. But what about no claims bonus, and future premiums? Not to mention the harrasment of not having a bike while repairs are being made.

Yes I know. It's all highly unlikely, a figment of my overactive imagination. All humans are lovable, honest, responsible, honourable............. Nobody would run like hell, along with all their mates, if they punted someone off their bike..........Would they...............................Would they????????

But then again ....... What would I know ..............
And remember ...... if it hasn't got one of "Uncle Flip's" prosthetic kickers it isn't a real motorbike!!!

Just to let you know Gloplg, a bike that is not registered can still carry insurance, if you check out your own insurance company they will require you to have a WOF. The WOF is that a WOF.. saftey .
Registration is only the tax to use it on the road. this has been discussed at lenght in other threads.
If your bike is not up to WOF specs, at the time of the incident, yet carries a WOF , and the accedent was directly caused by an unwarrentable item... then your insurance will not cover you even if you have cover. It is your responcibility to keep it in WOF condition.
If your bike is up to WOF spec, and you have an incident, but is not reg...the insurance will pay out.
Again Reg is just a tax ...not a saftey issue
To be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid.

    Ok thanks I hear you.

Think about it though, would a Rossi/Lorenzo clone who doesn't want to pay a road tax, have insurance???????

U wanna borrow a GPS and make sure you're speedo is reading right? I don't think they have underspeed warnings, though...

(That used to be my excuse, until I got one and calibrated the damn thing - 12kmh slow... Now if I'm an old slow fart, it's because it's my choice, dammit!)
He who shall go stately at the back and not stress out.
So Gareth what was it you said about MaxF's "Funky ass curves"? - God, now I'm worried...
