What are sub-standard vehicles? Does that just mean that some of the vehicles pulled over were Hyosungs?

Urgh they came through a bay last summer and told everyone to register their tractors or get huge fines... They only spend a few metres on the road on the way to the beach. Safe to say they didn't get a very good response

Safety my arse, it'll be to catch all the people who haven't registered their bikes due to the levy increase.

Oh and to make sure people don't get sunburnt

I don't think its too big a problem.

Lets see if the copper can keep a straight face while I take a leak stop. I mean the whole thing can still remain productive. You just have to use your time wisely.

This is the extent of the police policy on safety.....

    Blow on the pie!

    Police intelligence is an oxymoron.

While I don't necessarily enjoy having my ride disrupted, 15 minutes of my time is hardly going to ruin it. Aside from being a "high risk" group, the fact that 19 bikes out of 50 odd were non complient makes us pretty easy pickings. So for those people who get upset by this sort of thing take it out on the muppet's (we all know at least one) who ride outside their licence, defective machines, or with no reg/wof rather than the plod who I doubt woke up this morning with the intent to ruin every motorcyclist's life.

Seeing as the WOF doesn't check if something is compliant (see this thread)
I don't see how it can be enforced.

Come on ACC/Coro coppers/NZTA - come out with a statement and stick with it.
    Start with Compliance is......
    and follow it with
....and we will enforce it as.....

rather than this stunt PR bullshit.

I don't see them making "compulsory minivan" stops in South Auckland. Yet their crash rate is right up there.
Likewise when was the last drug bust in the coromandel?
Fact of the matter is motorcyclists will pay the fine. So this is more a collection call than the safety one.

Completely agree. If you get stopped and have not done anything wrong, you'll be inconvenienced for a few minutes. It doesn't have to ruin your day - just take it as a positive thing, that the cops are removing morons and people with unsafe bikes from the road. Those are the people who drive the levies up.

You name it and I've probably riden it.
I know my limits and I maintain my bike
How does this make me a bad rider?
Yes I wear black leather and have a very loud bike but still got nothing to do with the way I ride.
Yeah it does: it means you have a bad attitude. You are non compliant. My name is Nick Smith and I sentence you to drive a 1.6l Honda Civic four door sedan for the rest of your natural. With a tissue box on the back parcel shelf, and a wee rug. Toy dog optional.

No no no non nonoooonononnononononononononononnoo NO

that is the "you only have to worry if you've done something wrong argument."

It in fact denotes a fascist dictatorship: one very small step removed from the Stasi.

the only justification for being stopped by a lor enforcement official is if they believe on reasonable grounds, you have done something wrong. State sanctioned trolling and fishing expeditions are completely wrong in my view. Particularly if targeted at a selection of the population: Its wrong like the po po targeting motorcyclists in Nelson last month or whenever it was.

Thin blue end of the wedge people: before you know it you have a large blue johnson up your bum, without so much as a by your leave.

Didnt we establish that if you wee on the left rear wheel of a vehicle that was OK? does it have to be your own or could it be an ACC bus or cop car?
