As mentioned earlier, Mt Eden Motorcycles Ltd will not be trading as a new motorcycles sales in the near, and probably ever future.
Experience BMW have picked up the Kawasaki brand and the Aprilia/Moto Guzzi brands have been picked up by another Auckland dealer which I,or they will announce next month.![]()
At the 2007 Westpac Ride:
Donor: So ya glad you're a Biker?
Minnie: F**k yeah!
my bike needs a wash, how much is too much to pay, for a chick to bikini wash it?
"I saw, I came, I conquered".
Well that sucks!
Having been down this road myself, I know about 1% of what Mike must be feeling.
To put your hart and sole into a business and have it fold around you hurts.
I was keeping bikes I have owned alive with the parts Mike sold me since I was about 13 years old!
Brought a couple of bikes from him over the years too…
It’s a shame to lose another bike shop.
I know he would have fought it to the end, and I hope we’ll see him back behind a counter soon.
Where do we stand now?
Considering the closed doors of the shops we used to haunt.
We have AMPS, BMW, Red Barron, Colman’s and the place in New Market, with half a dozen scoot shops in Auckland.
Suzuki and Honda on the Shore, Botany Honda out south
Treads and Motomail doing gear,
Bout 1.5 million in Auckland and just a handful of bike shops?
ACC may soon get their wish, if we can’t buy them, we can’t ride them!
Sorry if I overlooked anyone!
We all have our little obsessions...
NORTH HARBOUR YAMAHA on the North Shore. Aucklands NEW YAMAHA SHOP.
In the building at the Tristram Ave Off Ramp that was formerly Motorcycle City.
RIP Phil (Pinky) SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND.

Spectrum just off Barry's Pt Rd in Takapuna. Kawasaki dealer and really good workshop.
Good dudes.
Stop showing up to the beating.
Who wants to open the best motorbike shop not in Auckland but the world with me??
We'll sell all the coolest bikes. None'o this Hyo sushi shit.
We'll have the sexiest bikini clad models assisting the customers and salesmen. They'll be required to wheel the bike out for you when you buy it and pose so you can take some tasty photos for your new photo album.
We'll recruit the best mechanics and give them all the tools.
We'll have a race track out the back with a mini underground tunnel that will help you hear that screaming engine.
We'll have a membership system where you gotta lap our track under a certain time whereby you'll become worthy of our discounts.
The driveway to our showroom would have swooping fast turns and flames spitting out the side.
There is a long history of motorcycles on that site - Bill Russell had their workshop down stairs in 1980 at least, not sure when the moved there....but soon went back to their own shop, maybe it was just temporary for a refit? Peter was across the road in an old house with Mt Eden Motorcycle Wreckers, and moved into the top floor the same year, later taking over the whole building.George Tervitt had a car yard on the corner, and this was taken over a few years ago when Mt Eden Motorcycles punched out the wall and expanded.
It was a real hub of motorcycle activities for many years - Laurie Summers and Bill Russell across the road from each other, and Mt Eden Motorcycle Wreckers around the corner.I worked at Boston Motors in 1980,right in the thick of it.
And nothing in West Auckland....![]()
