Guns don't kill people. People with guns kill people.

It still surprises me, people refer to weapons/rifles/side arms as "guns".
Jantar is the one exception here.
    Clearly someone with much experience.
The word gun is infintile, and used by those that should never handle a weapon/rifle/pistol.

That says more about "your experience" than anything else. Such pathetic generalisation adds nothing intelligent to any debate.

What should a 'gun' be called then? What should I call a shotgun?

I have no problem with the word. Should people who use the generalisation "bike" not be allowed to ride one either?

A shotgun is a gun, as is any weapon that doesn't have rifling in the barrel. Eg muskets, old naval cannon etc.

Because almost all firearms were origionally guns, the term has stayed, and is usually understood by non users to mean any firearm. Anyone who has learnt to use a variety of weapons would tend to use the correct term for the weapon involved rather than the generic "gun".

I've used everything from shotguns, to handguns, to assault rifles to hunting rifles and I still call them guns. I'm yet to use a proper machine gun.

Then it is my experience that says you have no experience at all with firearms and must be an immature 'tard for your silly fucken comment.
