Went for a ride up there on Monday, geez is it ever! Really rocky & cut up due to erosion - and I'm not just talking about the big slips.

I made the mistake of adjusting the forks at the saddle, slowing the comp & rebound damping as part of my dialing-in the new springs. Faaaaaaaaaaaaark!! it made the bike almost uncontrollable in the rocks on the Pelorus side. Had to stop well before Murderer's Rock to go the other way, speeding it up. Much betterer!

btw the pylon access tracks on the norf side of the Pelorus side are great riding at the moment.
    Cheers,
    Colin

I can't think of anything out this way either, except for say........ Harwoods hole.
Are the road riders invited to this hoe down or is it exclusive invite only stuff, only for those who ride proper bikes
Xmas lead-up weekends are pretty busy, hence choosing a mid-week.

Harwood Hole carpark is a pretty crappy place to hang out, which is why I thought of the caving club hut. It's only a few km away, ppl have the option of a strop down to Upper Takaka and back, or out to Harwood Hole and back.

Road riders are invited - all welcome - but they'll have to HTFU if the venue is Hori Bay or Harwood Hole or at the end of some other dirty road
    Cheers,
    Colin

Endurocross... I'll ride out on Saturday to have a look and a test run, only a half-day at most. Sunday's racing I am very keen to go; would prefer to trailer the bike in a race-worthy state rather than ride it there & back in a road-worthy state too - but I need to arrange a vehicle or trailer/ute/van space.

Who else is in? If no-one else, I might have to enter the pre-86 class on a little red rocket

Forecast is rain tomorrow, fine sat & sun.
    Cheers,
    Colin

    Go for it.
Tell Shane and he'll make sure the bike is race worthy.

I'll try to get out there, but after the Clarence, all I'll be up for is photos and video.

    It does get borrowed occasionally...

Really shows the power of the mighty XR250 well.

Unfortunately he can also do it on a piddling little XR200

Looks like maybe the odd light shower and that's about it.

I'm thinking wet weather gear may not even be needed.

Went over the Bay forwork today. 1 1/2 hrs town to Takaka at average speeds. That bypass makes a difference.

Woodman how much time/ distance do you think it cuts out of your commute?

Bypass seems to cut about 5 minutes off at the moment, but when the traffic gets up in the summer it will save a lot more I reckon cos there were bugger all passing opportunities the other way. Best part now is that I can usually get all the way there on cruise control once out of the 50k zones. BTW the cops are all over it so be careful.

Unfortunately there aren't may windy bits on the coastal way - & the 70Kph zones aer a drag.

Nordie You're keen still for Clarence? If so is 730 too late? Should we make it 7am leaving here? I looked at the old thread & we left for that one @530am. geez we were stupid then

Went for a wee afternoon fang over the Porika Braeburn etc as a consolation ride for not getting my a into g and going to the Clarence. Was a beautiful day, no photos sorry cos they wiould just have been the usual Porika/lake shots. Someone has taken to the lake side of the Porika with a back hoe, its rough as.

On the way back I decided to go via the dry weather road, which is always good and whilst hooning along the seal I spotted some bikes in a paddock and one was Warewolfs. It was then that I realised that the enduro cross thing was being set up today so stopped for a nosey. I watched WW hooning around, then Shane said follow me. On this? I said , pointing at my roadbike. Anyway, convinced that it was going to go badly I hopped on and boldly followed Shane where no klr should ever go. There were log hops with ever increasing log sizes and various other obstacles that escape me now, and drop off things , but my fav was the seesaw. Only knocked one post out, and got the klr bellied at one point on some logs but managed to stay on, even after a nasty knock in the trouser area.
One (ish) lap was tiring enough so I left Warewolf trying to kick over Nordies XR and rode home to cook tea.
