That's sounds good for me ... I will try to make it back on Sat itself
err where is the Mana shell?
BTW haven't yet changed tyres. Will at least need to change front although managed to remove chain and front sprocket to check them out ... the chain has a tight spot an 20000K. I'm waiting for a new set which hasn't yet arrived () so will try to recover this one with some cleaning ... may have to put a bigger sprocket at the front
as the one installed is bit bugged
... pah lots of things to do too little parts to do it
grrrr. Cannot make it! The Powers conspire against me. Have a blast!

what sort of surface will we be riding on?
I discovered today that a very worn E07 and damp hard clay are completely incompatible
if there is lots of hard clay I will get a new tire put on this week
Should be a GREAT ride...wish I could go![]()

Since JMJ has bailed I guess. I am coming now.
I plan to head south on Friday, probably renegade camp somewhere.
NZKtm what are your plans for heading down? And yeah keen to do some "long way rounding" on the way back north.
What is the plan for accommodation on Saturday night? Always nice to stay as a group. I saw mention of some barracks or something?
Take the long way down to Te Aroha....I plan on heading down early Saturday, will definitely be interested in taking the long way home as well mate.

40km or so gravel / rock road.
The tracks beside SH1 are generally loamy dirt / clay and are a mixed bag in the wet. Rule of thumb, slippery if wet.
Under the mountain will be mixture of sand, CNUT style rocks, pea metal sort of stuff. Will be a bit of a challenge I'd say, We won't know till we's stuck in the middle of it, ha.
To play it safe, go with knobs. You'll manage with crappy offroad tires, you'll just need to be selective with what you commit to. You will have a bit of self-choice on the day I think and seriously, most of it will be tame. I'm probably going to have a gay front tyre but I've just chucked a 606 on the rear for the bit under the hill...had a wicked fun time with it this arvo on a bit of gravel... hehe.

My PC is all packed up in storage but otherwise I'd have thrown some others up too... Bring yer cameras.
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.
