Plenty of room in the garage for another Orange one...Can cook us something up, we leave nice and early for Waiouru, scenic route or straight blast....Thinking Western Access and Mangakino route maybe... I should be home roundabout 1730 or so...maybe 1800 latest...

    Thanks Bugs

I've got a shiny new 606 on the front and a racing slick e07 on the back so we'll see who fares the best

Cool, I shall plan to be down Te Aroha way about then, might even duck up Thompsons Track for a look-see if I get down there early.

I shall be sporting a shiny new e07. It will be nice to be back to a logical tire choice again, since lately I have either been running bald a crap tires or mx knobbiles.

I have a 11000K rear Michelin T63 I'm planning to replace and I can give you ... the knobs are still noticeable, also have a 16000K front Michelin T63 that replaced last night ... which is not in very good shape

    Some piccies

Ok, these are a mixed bag of pictures but give you some idea of what to see and expect in terms of terrain and soil. As I said though, the leg out east will be by gravel road so not too exciting...except for the views.

There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

Your X Challenge must float on air to get the tyres that distance. It took just 3.5K to wear a T63 rear down to 4mm on the 250.

Looks good, though I don't expect the Kaimanawa horses to hang around when the KLR's exhaust of mass destruction appears over the horizon

That last one brings back memories! Had my first wash for 3 weeks in that stream while on Basic... sigh. Happy days. But only in retrospect...

Yeah Its bizarre, however I get little out of chain and sprockets ... less than 20000k with Scott oiler ... that's why I'm waiting for new set

Its not only this tyre BTW, I had a Michelin Baja before lasting that long ... keep in mind that I do a lot of comuting which is slow wear and lots of Ks

In the other hand maybe your 250 has 70hp and u didn't realise ...

I couldn't take the PD in there, if I fell off it I'd lose it in the grass.

While I haven't been up Takapari Road and it's on my 'Need to do' list I'm considering Taupo - Napier - Taihape on Sunday if we stay overnight for a couple of reasons.
