Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I think its most common for court cases or judge of character. As for how they use it... we all know government departments take stats and twist them to their cause...

And every other site in existence when there is a possible requirement.......ie. when there is protest action looming. That is about it. To say "they keep an eye on here" is rediculous.

They would in no way attach staff to monitor this forum at any other time. Not only would it be a waste of time and completely uninteresting, it would take up resources they quite simply do not have.

Motorcyclists, and especially this forum just are'nt that interesting to ousiders. We are'nt. It's true, if you don't ride you have no interest in bikes or the people involved with them, unless they're gang members or put into your line of sight.....even then bikes have long since stopped being related to gangs.

I've been off the bike for a couple of months now, for irrelevant reasons, and I have to say other than pulling over to let bikes pass I could'nt care less either.....imagine how people with no interest in bikes feel.

They have far more interesting and time-consuming shit to deal with. I dunno where people think they get all this spare time to watch 'us' from.......

    This should seal it.

Probably not to the deaf/blind/stubborn but here you go. Straight from a text message from a West Auckland cop.......who is a good friend of mine.

uh... I'm not saying EVERY cop monitors KB, but there are certainly a few that do. Not saying its a full time job either, but when there are matters pertaining to their interest... then they do.

I won't go into more detail, but I've been contacted by them right before major events, as I appeared to be an organiser, they wanted to talk etc.

No, KB is the centre of the universe and MSTRS is its prophet.

Is'nt that what I just said?! When there is something significant happening, like a protest.......

To think they're even slightly interested at any other time is crazy.

Evidently we're going to have to agree to disagree. I used my case as an example. I did say... "they keep an eye on here". That doesn't, by definition mean they are reading every post and every thread, researching every member etc (except the tin foil hat people would love that).

Define significant? A court case coming up, and there is evidence on KB that lends credence to their case... you bet it's going to be used. I think some KB'ers have even had KB threads used against them...

The police will use whatever tools necessary and at their disposal to do their job, ensure criminals are caught, cases are won etc. They're using what, Facebook in Queenstown? It's working...

Fact is, KB is one of the largest NZ forums and comfortably the largest motorcycle forum... of course they will keep an eye on things that interest them

Man what a deluded load of piss. Us motorcyclists really are a very small unimportant minority in the eyes of the rest of the population.

I cannot believe anyone was stupid enough to believe this crap. If you were, slap yourself in the face and give yourself a sack-tap.

Naaa ... it makes sense to keep an eye on the site. As a snap shot of current biker attitudes and reactions to new laws .. to ACC ... to many of the things discussed .. it's pretty damm good .. it would make a lot of sense to monitor this site ... I'll bet good money that ACC did/still do ...

What surprises me is how many KBers are surprised - enough members have identified themselves as cops ... do we know if they are at work or not when the post ? No ... and not only does that allow them to monitor the site, it allows them to drop in comments to see what our reactions are ... any PR person or moderately competent social psychologist would tell you there's a mine of information here about bikers ...
