Oamaru - things to see and do!

Hey there motorcycle tourists, I have noticed a new trend in Oamaru called "Steampunk"!

I have watched (with some pessimism) as this thing has grown and cast it's spell upon the locals and other interested passers by!

You will by now all be familiar with the wearable art "WOW" that started in Nelson and has grown into an international success story!

Well I feel that this (Steampunk) thing has the same potential to take off big time too!

I could be wrong but why don't you be your own judge and if touring through Oamaru, look it up and decide for yourselves!

There is plenty see and do just visiting the old precinct in Oamaru South end of town!

Have a look here for some idea of what it is all about: http://www.steampunknz.co.nz/index.p...k-fashion-show

I have nothing to do with this organisation, I just thought it would hold some appeal to average motorcyclist's sense of ridiculous and fun!

If you do call in and have a look, I hope you get real value out of your visit, might even see you about!

That penny farthing bike has got some nice old school hybrid shit going on, I would have pointed the pressure cylinder away from the riders butt though.

Its all a bit like 'Back to the Future', what a good movie. I always wanted to see a petrol engine run on wood gas.

    Generic small town throwaway line.
Like; We used to go downtown and watch haircuts on a Saturday night.
Or; I had a girlfriend in Hamilton till she wrote me a John Deere letter.

Always been friendly place to me when passing. Nice backdrops for pics out the back of town too.
