Will a CX run with no battery? Or is the spark powered from the battery?
EDIT: Okay, I asked on a CX forum and it will go fine. Convenient!

Le Trog is still going strong. My daily do everthing mount at the moment since the GB shat itself. Still consuming 500mls of oil every 500kms or so. Total loss oil system you know. Piston slap? What piston slap? In the process of getting the wrecked GL400s front end tidied up for transplant. Ok its taken a couple of years but I'm getting there. Got a new addition to the junk pile- the old mans R80.

Had a visit from Gingin just recently. Loved his jerry rigged fork brace. Amazing what you can do with a few U-bolts, nuts and a bit of steel plate.

The old dear is sporting reverse comstars both front and rear now. The original front was starting to show some signs of rusting. It had a Shenko tyre that sill has about 5000km of wear left so would be a shame to let it go to waste. I'll attack the original wheel assembly bolts with a 1mm cutting disk, remove the bearings(for reuse of course) and take the alloy into to the scrap metal merchent for some drinking dosh.

Still single disk at this stage. Had a wee Bones moment and forgot about the disk mounting bolts being a bit longer. A bit of head scratching and the light bulb finally went on and that little voice churped up "Turn the fuckers around the other way you drip!" Being so greatfull for that little bit of advice I did and now the wheel can rotate without the bolt ends bashing the speedo drive. Must have gotten a bit of grease on the disk so will remove the pads and give them a clean.

I'll transfer the wrecked GLs bodywork over as both the original sidecovers are cracked, with one held on with wire. Bleck is soo slimming.

Had a natter with the foreman of the contractors doing the airport exterior rework today. Had a lot of questions about the CX.

    Is that a v-twin?-yes
    Pushrods?-yes
    Shaftdrive?-yes
Is that the cluch in the front there? yes it's a multi-plate affair
    Plus a few more.

Then he said it was nice. Almost felll over I did. Quite surpised it was made in 1978 he was. Obviously he knows class when he see it. As the saying goes you do meet the nicest people on a Honda ah?

    Talking Honda CX model tourers

Got my mate into motorcycling by selling him my GL400.
Over the last 5 years he has collected trailer loads of CX bikes & spare parts.
In his collection are the following:
    CX650 & 500 Euro, 2 x CX500's & a CX650C with alloy mags not comstar.
spares include 4 various engines, tanks plastics etc, you name it he's probably got it.
I currently ride a 2003 SV1000s & plan to build a CX500 flat tracker for fun club rides.
Yes not the fastest but enjoyable for long rides & fun aspect AAA+++.
