Central District motorcyclists and moped riders will be targeted during a month-long police operation prompted by an increase in two-wheeler registrations since 2000.

Police say the death of 14 riders on Central District roads in the past two years was also a driving factor for the campaign, which starts on Monday and runs to December 19.

Motorcyclists will be pulled over and spoken to at checkpoints throughout the Central District, which includes Palmerston North, Levin and New Plymouth.

......joining police and Horizons Regional Council to get the safety message across during the campaign.
Didnt miss it, just wrong area, wrong regional council and wrong day......

Yup...Still, as I said, they broadcasted their intention...
    Well Citizen bikers...
Here's my prediction for the New ACC Insurance Scheme (scam). Which once up and running will become industry standard for motorcycle insurance companies.
1.ATGATT as mandatory for all motorcyclists. Failure to wear ATGATT will void your cover, as you failed to take proper and reasonable (where reasonable is considered to mean "what the average person would do") steps to ensure your safety.
    2.All safety gear (currently considered "sports apparel" and claims for replacement are paid out at second hand value only) will be subject to either becoming part of the WOF, or will have a WOF of their own. WOF on gear will take into account;
    safety rating of each piece,
    condition of,
    age of,
That year old helmet with the small scratch on top, or those 18 month old bike pants may no longer be "safety worthy".
    WOF failed!
Now show me your papers ........
    Think I'm paranoid? Hell Yes!

Call me a cynic, but this shows how the Labour weekend 4km/h speed tolerance was in fact a raging success.

So car drivers will be voided ACC if they do not wear their seatbelts?

Of course not. They're not the 'enemy'...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I've got my Kevlar undies & carbon fibre jock strap ready. I can just picture it now, dropping my pants for a roadside inspection

As the cyclists don't pay road levy and the govt financially penalise us for our poor riding record, i'd say that cars caused 9 of the 11 deaths. Because ACC allow me to aportion blame, I shall... cars caused 81% of all deaths at the weekend... but it's ok, it's to be expected as there's more cars on the road
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

And the one seriously injured down the Catlins way, overcooked a bend........only doing 65kph....so his mates say....

And the one today down near Kaitangata, not so seriously hurt though.

They cause havoc with the ACC accountants, though,That is why this "Police initiative" is driven by ACC

The 2 cyclists were found to have been carrying cameras in their packs,
Cameras that have tiny motors in their autofocuses.
That is why those 2 accidents will be listed as motorcyclists
