Can't wait to see them tonight... a fan from way back! The last time I was at a concert (cranberries, proclaimers, crowded house, christie moore plus).... was Fleagh in London in the 90's... U2 is an amazing band, great music, never hear of drugs, they put the rolling stones to shame in my eyes (not as musicians, but as people that kids/adults idolize)... they have drive and passion.

The concert last night was fantastic!
Wasn't so fussed on most of Jayzee's gig, but that may have been due to one of my few grumbles about the night: the sound system was set WAY too loud, so instead of hearing the music clearly, your ears were overloaded and the sound was distorted. A couple of times I had to put my finger in my right ear, as it has previous sound damage, and now has tinnitus. Again.
WIsh I'd put earplugs in (loosely), but I must admit I was afeerd of looking like (more of) a dork.
But why? Why does it need to be sol f'kn loud? Surely if it's loud enough for everyone in the stadium to hear it clearly, that's enough?

My other grumbles (also minorish) were that our expensive seats were reallocated before the gig, supposedly because of "sight line issues". It was clearly bogus, and I suspect was just the knob at Ticketek moving bookings of 2 or 3 people to accomodate a large block booking. Our original seats had a fantastic unobstructed view of the entire stage, whereas our "New! Improved!!" ones had a fucking 'Claw' leg smack dab between us and the front of the stage. (By the way - that 'Claw' was fookn HUGE! And very well designed, adding heaps to the visual spectacle, with the lights show, the 360-degree video screen, and very very clever visual and video effects!!)
Last grumble was how crap it was trying to get the 45000 odd people out of the stadium down one narrow path, and several thousand onto buses. We didn't get home until 2 hours after the concert ended. Like I said, minor grumbles that weren't U2's fault, and that didn't detract much from a fantastic spectacle. Oh - and the freee buses were a very nice touch - even with the trouble of getting on them to go home, still heaps better than taking the car (which I left parked at Smales Farm bus station).
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Agreed. We bought $100.00 standing tickets. I felt they were great value. The band spent most of the show singing at us. We were less than 10 meters from the outer stage. Right in the middle. I felt tha Jayzee, was too loud. Still cannot hear properly today. Ears are still ringing . All in all,a great night. The free trains south were great too.

What a bugger about the sitting change, I would have taken them, my feet were killing me by 11pm. (That is my grumble lol)...

BUT it was a fantastic show from U2! The rapper well um erm, I think the young fella's in front of us thought I was mad, standing there with our arms crossed, I just don't get rap music!

Odd for the Thursday show. I thought the sound levels were quite high but no adverse ringing after the show at all. The TV seemed to show quite a lot of echo in the centre-field area. How was the sound down there?

Transport afterwards was simple. Was home in 20mins without any hassles of too many cars around. Glad we didn't opt for the public transport option after all.

Yeah, but... It was a fucking good show. I enjoyed it more than AC DC but I'm a much bigger Acca Dacca fan that U2.

It was a pity about the stuck up maggot sat next to us, but as always, there's always one. The security was over the top too; "no you can't look inside my cigarette packet, you fuckin little Mahut!"

Awesome photos, we were standing just to the right of centre stage, about 7-8metres back if that... was awesome.

Really? I walked in with a bottle of water in my hand and nothing was even said about it. Should have filled it with vodka instead of... water.
